This week Weekly Challenge theme is VENARI KNIFER.
I have been traveling lately and thought I wouldn't be able to post this week weekly challenge. Good that I can post it before too late.
Thorn ability is one of my heavily used abilities in splinterlands battles. But when I use Earth splinter, I mostly use Obisidian and my focus is only on magic monsters. To use Venari Knifer, I'll have to change my strategy and use Wizard of the Eastwood's ability to reduce enemy's shields which also is a nice fit with Thorn ability.

Summoner : Pyre
Wizard of Eastwood deduct 2 shields from enemy monsters at 3 mana cost. I use this card only when I have to use **Earth** and magic attacks are not available or not as affective as they intend to. Deduction of shield gives advantage to the melee and range attack cards in the team.
First Position : VENARI KNIFER : Featuring Monster
It cost 6 mana for the 2 melee attack with *Thorn* ability at the speed of 4. It offers 7 hit points. It is faster but weaker compare to *Cursed Windeku* at the same mana cost.
Second Position : Failed Summoner
At 2 mana cost, it gives you 4 hit point which can be used as a sort of tank. Its magic shield reflect ability pose a big thread to low health magic cards.
Third Position : VENARI SEEDSMITH
5 mana cost seem a bit expensive, but if you can position it well and take advantage of its *Scavenger* ability, it could give you the result you want with 2 range attacks. The speed is on the negative side though.
Last Position : MYCELIC MORPHOID
This one mana cost monster is useful for low mana cost battles or if you have 1 mana left to spend. You can position as per your strategy. It can be used as bait for the *opportunity* monsters or place in the last position for *sneak* monsters.
The battle was 17 mana capped match against Dragon+Death splinter without any ruleset. I have to say, the match up was favoring me as *Dragon's additional shield was offset.
Let's get started
The opponent used of low mana cost monsters favor me again as my Venari Seedsmith would get additional health for each death.
After round-1, my Venari Seedsmith hit point reached from 2 to 5 even though enemy focus was on my back-line.
As my Mystic Morphone was taken out, enemy sneakers were targeting my Venari Seedsmith which was pretty strong at the point.
As the formation was already broken, and sneakers become tanks, the melee attacks became suicidal as they are hitting the Thorn.
It just lasted 4 rounds.
Did my strategy work?
I am not sure about my strategy as the match up and enemy's line up just favored my strategy.
**Do I like VENARI KNIFER? **
I think Thorn ability is one of my favorite ability. Venari Knifer gives me good attack and defense with decent speed at 6 mana cost. It has its own weakness though against range and magic attacks.
