I started this manwha on the recommendation of a friend, and the truth is that this isekai style is not one of my favorites, although there is still debate whether it would fall into the category, since its worldbuilding within the same reality, gives more credibility to urban fantasy. It took me a while to start it, but it really was a bad decision to put it off. It didn't take long to grab me with its first chapters, and its main hook is that it doesn't take that long to give us a more attractive perspective of the protagonist and his environment. I won't deny that I had my crush on the character, at first super cute, and then a heartthrob 😂.
The first thing that strikes you about Solo Leveling is his drawing style, so incredible and intense. Chu-Gong has created a detailed and lively world, with characters and monsters jumping off the pages with vibrant colors and stunning designs. The author has an innate talent for creating stunning action scenes, with fluid movements and well thought out choreography that makes every battle exciting. That gives all the fights a plus, further incentivizes the thrill and you can't stop reading.
But what really makes Solo Leveling stand out is the author's creativity in creating his world. The mix between the real world and that fantasy of dungeons threatening to destroy the world is interesting, any rpg game fan's dreams. As Sung Jin-Woo levels up, discovers new locations and faces increasingly powerful enemies, he makes a place in the reader's heart. Each dungeon is unique and presents different challenges, which keeps the plot fresh and exciting, at times painful.
