DIY - How To Use Every Piece Of A Pair Of Jeans And Shirt - Part 2.

Today I'm going to show you another bag I've created recently, my first in a certain way. I'm trying to create different designs and also diversify the products by using zippers, magnets and very soon velcro.

I love all the bags I've created so far for various reasons, some for the mistakes I've made, others for the good work (not bragging 😜), each one has a special story. This one is special as I've used a piece of jeans that have been keeping for some time because I love it. It's the bottom part of the jeans and I'll tell you more about it later in this post. The other reason why this bag is special is that it's the first time I've used a magnet.

The Process

This is the piece I got from cutting out the pocket. It may look strange but pockets are not sewed straight as the pants are tailored after the body shape. At this point I had to make a decision. Use it straight or as you see it on the photo. The second option seemed more exciting. I've done straight pocket bags already, so a little bit of change is welcome, besides, who says everything has to be symmetric and right. The other strange thing is that the pocket was not positioned in the middle as some would expect.

This piece made the other half, also made sure to use the fabric wisely.

Now comes the fun part. This were my old jeans, a thousand years ago. This is the right side, pretty boring actually, right? The bottom part was saved for later use.

This is the wrong side, the one I love so much because of the texture.

And here is the front part of the bag.

I believe these two types of fabric are the perfect match, that contrast is needed here.

The lining is made of a shirt that I like so much. This time I used this magnet, that is also my favorite when it comes to magnets. I got to choose between shiny, white and this one.

To make it more secure I used two layers of interfacing, so it's perfectly safe.

The Finished Product

Here it is, my first tote bag with magnet. I used the word product, which means an article or substance that is manufactured or refined for sale, as I intended to sell it but now I'm not sure. Maybe I'm going to keep it, not sure yet.

The lining with the three usual pockets.

The other side with the pocket I saved from the shirt.

These are perfectly good pockets and instead of throwing them away, I'm always trying to incorporate them in the design and use them as wisely as possible.

This is #upcycling, #recycling and #repurposing

This is how a pair of jeans and a shirt that were not used anymore got a new life.
