Whether it is QUILT or Nakshi QUILT (Designed Quilt), it is deeply rooted in Bengali culture and tradition. As a nation, Bangladesh is very advanced in QUILT and handicrafts and has its own culture and tradition. Here you can find many types of nakshi (designed) QUILT and various works in the different parts of Bengal. And for all these reasons, I have been acquainted with the development of Bangladesh's tradition, culture and handicrafts since I was a child. And I grew up watching it happen. And because of such a tradition, Bangladesh's position in the world is among the top three in terms of garment exporters.
Although it’s very small but Bangladesh is very advanced in this fabric and sewing work. Our country's handicrafts, various nakshi QUILTs and such industries are being exported abroad. And it is because of this industry that I have personally studied textile engineering. I might have studied other engineering but since this industry is very promising for Bangladesh, I chose it for my engineering.
From this point of view, this needle work community is similar to this industry of Bangladesh. It coincides with my studies. I try to write something at least once a week whenever I have time. Today I am going to share in this community a QUILT made for my daughter and its craftsmanship.
Since this nakshi QUILT was made by my wife and her sister together and they were not with me, I could not take pictures of the steps during this artwork period. But today when they brought this word to my house, I was really very impressed to see it so I am sharing it here. It came to my house today and today is Monday. It’s time to share with this community. The handicrafts are very meticulously embroidered which is one of the attractions of this QUILT. And the most interesting thing is that it will be very useful next winter. And it will last at least 20 years due to the use of new fabrics here.
When the machine is sewn, its beauty is reduced a lot, so it has been hand-sewn and aesthetically enhanced for a long time, even if it is a little difficult. When hand stitches are given, the beauty of the story increases many times as you can see in the picture. So, I have always seen hand sewing in the field of QUILT, especially Nakshi QUILT for which Bangladesh is very famous. Since most of the women in Bangladesh sew this kind of QUILT in their spare time, it is an expression of their labor. They have time, so they make a living by doing these things. Again, many people do this from a hobby.
Whatever it is, the color is very nice in yellow is used here and it will look good when used for winter. The steps to make such a QUILT are described in many of my previous posts. If you want you can see those posts from the link below of this post. First of all, the clothes have to be set and fastened with a little stitch then the design is done and according to the design there is a long time to sew. This is a step of making QUILT in fairly simple language which I did not have to follow here but my family had to take more than a month to do it.
Above all I like to post in this community as a person involved with needles & textiles and I see the posts of this committee from time to time. And it's great to see new designs and works. I read the posts of this community whenever I have time but if I am not very busy. Be sure to let us know in the comments how this QUILT felt today and thank you so much for taking the time to read my post so far.
Be creative and make some needle works.
