Palm trees are the most famous plants from the southern countries! There are 183 genera and 2600 different species. Palm trees can grow up to 60 meters tall. Some bloom only once in a lifetime. Others more often. Officially, palms are plants, not trees. The trunk is not made of real wood, but the trunk is "lignified".
Palmen sind die bekanntesten Pflanzen aus den südlichen Ländern! Es gibt 183 Gattungen und 2600 verschiedene Arten. Palmen können bis zu 60 Meter gross werden. Einige blühen nur einmal im Leben. Andere öfters. Offiziell sind Palmengewächse keine Bäume. Der Stamm besteht nämlich nicht aus richtigem Holz, sondern der Stamm ist "verholzt".
Only in a few palms the blooms contain the female and male parts. Here you see a female palm.
Nur bei wenigen Palmen enthalten die Blüten die weiblichen und männlichen Teile. Hier siehst Du eine weibliche Palme.
By the way, this palm tree is not in the tropical rainforest. This palm lives in Genoa/Italy .
Diese Palme steht übrigens nicht im tropischen Regenwald. Diese Palme lebt in Genua/Italien.
Here you see a male palm tree. One inflorescence can be up to 7 meters and the heaviest seed was over 22 kilograms.
Hier siehst Du eine männliche Palme. Ein Blütenstand kann bis zu 7 Metern betragen und der schwerste Samen war über 22 Kilogramm.
