Today I have this mesmerizing hoverfly from the Genus Eristalinus is a genus of hoverfly. Most species have very distinctive eye markings in the form of spots or banding, though these features may fade on some preserved specimens. .
But the one that I found here are the on with spots marking on its eyes. The eyes of this fly is also considerably bigger than other type of fly that I know, even for the hoverfly family. The size is also bigger compared to the other hoverfly which is usually bigger so that they can hover in the air for quite a long time.
I really though that I will never be able to take many photos of this fly, because hoverflies tend to fly faster, and hardly stay in one place for a long time. And getting the shots of this genus was certainly a good one for me.
I guess that day this hoverfly was deeply in a sleep state, that might be the reason it just stayed still while I took many photos of this fly. I even bent the leaf it resting on, and then also change the orientation of my camera to get a different perspective. Somehow this little guy seemed to be unbothered, not until i bumped my diffuser (so many times) into the branch, and it might wake it up, and then it flew away.
