When I first came to Ecency, many things were not clear to me. I used to see points, but I didn't really have much idea about what they are, how to get them, or where they are used. After exploring for a few days, I managed to understand a bit. So I thought I would write down what I learned here; maybe it could be useful to someone.
Ecency points are a completely different thing. It is not Hive tokens directly, but rather Ecency's own point system. These points can be earned through various daily activities. For example—doing daily check-ins, publishing posts, commenting, and curating other people's posts. Points keep accumulating in the account through these activities.
Several important things can be done with these points mainly. One's own posts can be boosted so that they can reach more people on the platform. Alongside, it can also be used to promote accounts. And sometimes it is also possible to support other users through this.
It seemed to me that these points are basically an opportunity. Those who stay active regularly, little by little, can gradually accumulate these points and push their posts a bit forward. Especially for beginners, this comes in very handy. Because in the beginning, followers are fewer and posts don't easily catch everyone's eyes. At that time, the visibility of posts can be easily increased a bit by using points.
I still haven't fully understood everything perhaps. However, as much as I have managed to know, it seemed—just making posts here doesn't end the responsibility. Regular small tasks are equally important. And these points are like a small reward for those very tasks.
