Discover the beauty of Kuan Yin Teng Temple, the oldest Chinese temple in George Town. It is located at located at 30, Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, George Town. Built in 1728 and devoted to the Goddess of Mercy Guan Yin, the temple is architecturally stunning, built with traditional Chinese elements and principles of feng shui. Every year, the temple is visited by many devotees for the Goddess of Mercy feast, which marks Kuan Yin’s birth, initiation, and her attainment of nirvana. Devotees are no longer allowed to bring joss sticks into the temple. Instead, joss sticks are placed outside the entrance of the temple. Come explore this sacred place and learn more about the other deities like Tua Pek Kong, Hor Ya and Tai Sui which are housed within the temple.
