Mothers are superheroes and how they do the things they do surprises me till now. How a woman’s body is designed to do mind-blowing things is amazing. Whoever conceived the idea that women are weaker vessels needs to be flogged and jailed because how do you equate the strength and courage of a superhero to not just a vessel but to a weaker one? How do you liken one whose body is able to accommodate another living thing for 9 months and goes through the same process again and again, women ain’t no weaker vessels, they are stronger than the human mind can ever phantom.
This week’s topic by @trucklife-family for the Ladies of Community is a very interesting one and I couldn’t help but jump on it.
2️⃣ Do you believe that women have a very clear role today in society? If so, what is that role?
For me, the role of a woman in society is all-encompassing and cannot fit in a box. The more levels a woman unlocks in life the different roles she plays, while some are easy peasy, some are hard and others are forced to change her life within a twinkle of an eye.
She takes up these roles not just because of her family but society in general as everyone requires that she plays these roles effectively and when she is unable to play these roles according to certain “standards” she is termed as not “good enough” or “woman enough”. I stand with all women who at some point in their lives have been made to feel lesser than themselves, you all are the real MVPs.
The various roles women play cannot fit in a box. Saying that there is a clear role for women would mean limiting women. A woman can do whatever she wants to do or sets her mind to do. It’s amazing how a woman’s body isn’t as strong as the body of a man but guess what? This doesn’t limit her as women are unstoppable, we keep going for whatever our mind is set on as it is always our goal. This courageous trait is quite different from that of the male counterparts thereby debunking the “weaker vessel” concept.
The popular saying that it is a man’s world has been debunked so many years ago as women have come to realize how much they can offer in society. Gone are those days when the clear roles of a woman were homemaking, cooking, and giving birth to children. Women are beginning to know their worth and they keep ruling and winning every single time!
The gender-based jobs are gradually becoming extinct as women are beginning to get on board. These male-dominated jobs that prohibited women from getting on board. These jobs segregated women, women who had the potential were denied the opportunities all because of their gender.
Today, women are changing the narratives as women are beginning to take up these jobs and other challenging roles and this has been refreshing.
The power of a woman cannot be quantified, from homemakers to mothers, teachers, friends, counselors, models, designers, artists, entrepreneurs and so many other roles you can ever think of.
I am so proud to be a woman as I know the different roles I play every day and I know how impactful it is to society and that’s wonderful.
