πŸŒŠπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸ©±πŸ‘™πŸ Taking Back The Reins - Part 12: Self Care = Rest Day and Yoghurt!πŸŒŠπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸ©±πŸ‘™πŸ

Yesterday, after four days of going to the gym, I decided to take a day of rest. I am determined to reach certain goals, like weight loss, improved mental health and muscle strength, but I don't want to turn it into an unhealthy obsession. This is supposed to bring me joy, after all.

I also noticed that my knee pain was back so I thought a rest day would be exactly what the doctor ordered. I will be back on my proverbial bicycle this afternoon/ evening as the day off resolved all my aches and pains.

Yesterday I focused on good eating. So, I am not manically following any fad diet, but I do find that banting works quite well for me. However, as a family if five, its very hard to follow this and very expensive. The idea is to do what I can when I can and just choose healthier options.

I have given up chocolate/chips/cake in bed at midnight, which @zakludick and I had gotten into the habit of this past year (and I believe has contributed to a huge percentage of my weight gain) especially, as a sort of reward for dealing with our kids and all their collective crap πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜œπŸ˜œ Don't get me wrong, I love my kids. Bur parenting three teens is exhausting. I constantly wonder if I am doing a good enough job.

So, yesterday I focused on rest, and eating well! For beakfast, I had my usual oats and banana. But for lunch I indulged in this incredible yoghurt!

There seems to be an outbreak of all kinds of delicious flavors of yoghurt out there, and although I know I should be eating plain unsweetened yoghurt, who can resist these options? I have always been a strawberry yoghurt girl (which is strange because I hate anything else strawberry flavored - maybe it's the fake strawberry taste I abhor) but with flavours like blackberry, and cheesecake and so on, there is just so much to chose from. And they all do wonders for my gut health with live cultures to ensure healthy bacteria are thriving. I need to look after my tummy with all the meds I am taking. And there's no way I could eat plain yoghurt every day.

Last night, we had chicken schnitzels with salad. It was really fun because Zak and I made this dinner together! I even added some boiled eggs to the salad, in place of avos as their price has skyrocketed - as they do every year around this time and become more and more scarce. I love adding olives, but only @merenludick and I eat them. Anyway, back to dinner last night, it was absolutely scrumptious!

It was also for the first time in 5 days, the first night I had a chocolate craving, but I resisted! Yay for me!!
