A new resident to join the rare plant family. It’s getting out of control fast here and is almost I probably now have as many rare plants as Kew gardens lol
My newest member is the philodendronmelanochrysum. Of course Lilith came out to help me plant! Thankfully she arrived fully in tact and no damaged leaves.
Whenever I plant my rare plants up i generally use a terracotta pot as it allows for good drainage and it’s actually easier to over water than under water plants in general. I generally fill the bottom with clay pebbles and then add on coconut soil mixed with perlite and sometimes willow bark if I have it in. This one came with great soil already so just had to mix in a bit of my own coconut soil.
She then gets pride of place in filtered sunlight.
This is just a baby out in their habitat this is how they end up

I think the rare plant world has grown expedentially since even the start of lockdown and more and more people are interested in having unusual and rare houseplants over the average ones.
This is one small corner 🙈
