To answer the question, life is unfair and the major reason is because of the sense of inequality that has been inbued into us by default. We as humans cannot have total control of our lives, the narratives and circumstances behind our existence. There's always someone making a decision on our behalf externally or internally.
Internally or primarily it could be our guardian, parent, landlords, teachers, Professors or clergy people. Externally or secondarily, it could be our color, race, educational background, country, finacial or health status and many others.
As a result of these circumstances that sorrounds our existence, different people in life are given different oppurtuinities. To some people its actually favourable, while to some others it's not favourable. When people do not have the same kind of opportunity or an unjust or equal criteria or conditioning necessary for them to compete for opportunities this is inequality which we can biased
Another reason why life is unfair as a result of the competitiveness of the human nature. Our universe is massive, too big for us to totally comprehend the rules, norms, the pattern or signature through which is functions by and because of this irregularities, things just don't work according to human reasoning, the fact that a hard-working person is poor and a lazy person is rich feels unfair.
The fact that the rich gets away with their crimes and the average people gets the suffer the consequences is rather unfair, the fact that the health conditions of a person limits or kills their passion or dreams is rather unfair, the fact that a person lost a job opportuinity due to their race feels unfair and this is how the human race works, we cannot grab a hold of Why these things happens but then sometimes it feels like unjustness or unfairness is am attribute of humanity that we can abhor but never stop.
Another reason why life is unfair is as a result of unforseen circumstances. Truth us, unforseen circumstances are part of life they're the miscellaneous events that happens to us inadvertently without our own plannings or doing. One of things we hate most is life is being hit by what we cannot control.
I use to say that we humans have a sense of dominion but then we're not as free as we think. Death, accidents, unemployment, poverty or serious health situations can result due to circumstances that we do expect but then might be inevitable. A person can be alive for a long time and just when they begin to start a profitable career and find love they just up and died.
Now unforseen circumstances does not work with our emotions, infact its never sentimental, Just or considerate, it happens to us by designs which are beyond our reckoning and this is to mean that we're not totally aware or cognizant of our universe, how it tends to influence our lives and how it might not and this is Why we're hit with things that we're largely not aware of and this brings a feeling of unfairness
Another reason why life is unfair is because of the difference in our psycological reasoning; Our inability to read beyond the facial or physical embodiment is key. While unforseen circumstances can make life unfair or unjust but sometimes we ourselves can straighten things up, we can decide to change or tweak an unjust situation to make it just. I was looking for a job in 2014, with and elderly man i was close with.

Back then, I was so little and so frail and nobody would employ me and there was this firm we went to and they employed this man because he had the height and had the stature, it seemed unfair and I was really saddened, the employer gave an excuse that I was too young and too small, but deep down I knew I could do the job, it was not my fault that I was small, it was genetics, maybe malnutrition but I was about to lose a job but then, the elderly man tweaked the narrative, he asked the employer to take 20% of his salary every month and begged the employer to employ me and this was how I got the job.
The lesson here is, we can change an unfair circumstance and this would warrant us to be sacrificial. So even when the universe is generally unfair we still have some narratives we can control unless we chose not to.
Sometimes life's unfair die to the ignorance of people that gotten everything to work in their favour. Emapathy is a human value that many people hasn't nurtured and sometimes when we look at life, its typical of us to see things and situation that should move us to compassion this is how we know that generally nothing is fair about life, we can make a difference especially if we find situations unjustly favourable to us, we can level the playing field and allow a certain degree of equality between us and people that life has treated rather unfairly.
