Teaching children about the importance of nature

Hello Hivers, how are you today?
Today I feel very happy because I have done a meaningful work. Today I took the kids into nature to learn about the importance of land, water and plants. They are children from the big cities of Vietnam. In the summer they are sent here by their parents for summer camp. Even though they were only about 6-11 years old, they enjoyed the trip. That made me very happy because they are the future of the planet and I think it's important to teach them lessons about land, water and plants.

We took the kids to the forest quite early around 6am so they could understand the importance of getting up early and enjoying the fresh air in the forest. During that hike, we taught the kids about plants and their importance. At first I was quite worried because they were quite young, but then they enjoyed walking in the forest, which relieved me. Maybe they don't have many opportunities to explore the forest like this when living in big cities. We then provided a special breakfast for the kids. Their breakfast was just sweet potatoes, bananas, eggs and milk. We wanted them to understand more about eat clean and thankfully they enjoyed their breakfast. Each of them has chosen for themselves a favorite corner right in the forest to enjoy their breakfast. We then let the kids go around collecting firewood to prepare for lunch.

At noon, the weather starts to get hotter. It's the right time for the kids to learn about the importance of water. We took them to a stream right in the woods. The children listened to a presentation about the importance of water and soon enjoyed their time in the water. They spent hours playing in the water and didn't seem to want to get out of the water. I saw pictures of me as a child watching children play in the water.

They are children from big cities, but they have not been afraid to participate in activities with land and water in nature. That's what I'm very happy about. Nowadays, with rapid development, children in big cities are increasingly losing connection with nature. I think that's very alarming for the future of the earth. So I'm very happy that the kids I took with me today enjoyed being in nature and wanted to learn about protecting the environment.

And the last activity in today's trip is learning to cook with firewood. Today, most of us are familiar with cooking with gas or electricity, which are energy sources that humans have made a great impact on nature and the environment when harnessing them. Children today have gradually forgotten the primitive way that humans cooked food. So today we taught the kids how to make fire and cook with wood. It's also an important life skill, in my opinion. They enjoyed learning about that skill and were very happy to enjoy the peanut sticky rice they cooked by themselves. I think today is a meaningful day not only for me and for the kids. I hope the lessons they learn today will help them have a better sense of environmental protection and love for nature.
