Coco! This movie though an animation movie captures the heart of many ab adult. I got to watch this movie in 2018 during my undergraduate days and I fell completely in love with. The fiesta, the family bond, the lifestyles and the colourful culture is just so unique.
The movie talks about Miguel, an young Mexican boy who lives with his extended family and has passion for music but was forced by his granny to settle into the family's business of being a cobbler instead. This reason was due to the fact that his great grandfather, Hector had left home, leaving behind his wife and daughter to go on a music tour with his friend, Ernesto De La Cruz but when he finally decided to return home to his family, De La Cruz who knew the tour would be over since Hector was the brain behind the classic mind capturing songs, poisoned him and took away his music book. Thus Hector never returned. This made his family take out his face from the family's shrine to remember their dead and also to hate music. Well Miguel loves music and he secretly practiced playing in an upstair hideout just above their home.
On the day when the dead who were remembered cross over to see their living relatives, Miguel broke into De La Cruz's tomb and touch his guitar which made him transit to the side of the dead, unable to be seen by the living. He eventually met with his late family and they got confused, knowing he was not dead but still baffled how he got there. They decided to take him to their mother who was having difficulty in cross over to the living side because Miguel had taken her photo.
All effort to return him back failed at that time because he broke the rule that would have kept him back at home and determined to met his idol, Ernesto De La Cruz who he thought was his great grandfather, he broke free and deep into the land of the dead.
He met with Hector was has been having issues with immigration for decades and they went off on a night of adventure. Facing troubles and having fun together.
But at long last, Miguel got to know Hector was his great grandfather and also that De La Cruz poisoned Hector and cheated him out of his fame. After risking being permanently dead and Hector disappearing into oblivion forever, they finally triumphed and everything fell into place, happily.
The series of songs in this movie are just so magnificent. A combination of romance and family songs that stirs up strong feelings in the heart were displayed.
Up till today, I still watch Coco.
