As soon as I read that the proposed genre of the week was a romantic comedy, several titles came to my mind, since I like this type of movie and I also enjoy them, they are perfect when I don't want to think about anything, then I remembered the film The Bridges of Madison, which is the opposite of what I thought about choosing.
This tape is from 1995 starring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep, it is about an affair that arises, between a photographer who works for National Geographic magazine and an Italian woman who lives with her family in Iowa. The couple met thanks to Kincaid (Clint Eastwood), who arrives at Francesca's (Meryl Streep) farm requesting help to locate the road that leads to the Roswell Bridge, and since GPS did not exist at that time, and the only way to reach the desired destination was to ask the locals.
A penas leí que el género propuesto de la semana era la comedia romántica, se me vinieron a la mente varios títulos, puesto que me gusta este tipo de película y además me divierte, son perfectas cuando no deseo pensar en nada, luego me recordé del film Los Puentes de Madison, que es todo lo contrario de lo que pensaba en elegir.
Esta es una cinta de 1995, protagonizada por Clint Eastwood y Meryl Streep, se trata del amorío que surge entre un fotógrafo que trabaja para la revista National Geografhic y de una italiana que vive con su familia en Iowa. La pareja se conocen gracias a que Kincaid (Clint Eastwood), llega a la finca de Francesca (Meryl Streep) solicitando ayuda para ubicar el camino que conduce hacia el puente Roswell, y como en esa época no existía el GPS, la única forma que había de llegar al destino deseado era preguntar a los lugareños.
Francesca feels fascinated with the foreigner, she finds him attractive, she begins to experience sensations for him that she thought was dead, and although she knows the risk she runs by entering into an extramarital relationship with this stranger because she lives in a town where people are not accepted adulterous women, she continues with her decision to have an affair with this photographer because she is unhappy, her existence only revolves around her children, her husband, and the farm, she has lost herself in her roles as mother, wife, and housewife, forgetting that she is a woman with desires and passion, so she decides to venture out to experience that outburst that makes her feel alive again, regardless of the cost.
The story and the characters are fascinating, as they show the disjunctions through which a human being can pass, who is subjugated by the obligations dictated by social customs, for what they leave unfulfilled their longed-for dreams to continue with bland, tiresome, and boring routines, thus losing the freedom to choose what they want, which entails sacrificing their happiness for fear of confrontation and to break the standards imposed by society.
This is one of those movies that I have seen several times, so I would not hesitate to see it again, since it is not the kind of drama of an idyllic romance, but shows two mature people who choose to live four days of passion, knowing that this will not be possible, not only for the moral implications, but also for the emotional consequences it would bring to her family, plus this housewife knows that this passion, this fire that ignites it does not last forever.
Francesca se siente fascinada con el extranjero, lo encuentra atractivo, comienza a experimentar por él sensaciones que creía muerta, y aunque ella sabe el riesgo que corre al entablar una relación extra marital con este forastero, pues vive en un pueblo donde la gente no se aceptan a las mujeres adúlteras, más ella continúa con su decisión de tener una aventura amorosa con este fotógrafo, pues es infeliz, su existencia solo gira en torno a sus hijos, su marido y la granja, se ha perdido en sus roles de madre, esposa y ama de casa, olvidando que es una mujer con deseos y pasión, por lo que decide aventurarse a experimentar ese arrebato que la lleve a sentirse viva nuevamente, sin importar su costo.
La historia como los personajes son fascinantes, pues muestran las disyuntivas por las cuales puede pasar un ser humano, que se halla subyugado por las obligaciones que le dicta las costumbres sociales, por lo que dejan sin cumplir sus sueños tan ansiados por proseguir con rutinas sosas, cansonas y aburridas, perdiendo de esta manera, la libertad de elegir lo que realmente se desea, lo que conlleva sacrificar su felicidad por el miedo a la confrontación y a romper con los estándares que ha impuesto la sociedad.
Esta es una de esas película que he visto varias veces, así que no dudaría en verla nuevamente, puesto que no se trata del tipo drama de un romance idílico, sino que muestra a dos personas maduras que eligen vivir cuatro días de arranque pasional, a sabiendas de que este no será posible, no solo por las implicaciones de índole moral, sino también por las consecuencias emocionales que les traería a la familia de ella, además esta ama de casa sabe que esa pasión, ese fuego que la enciende no dura para siempre.
One of the scenes that have captivated me is when Kincaid is under the rain looking at Francesca coming out of the warehouse, it is so touching and sad, at that moment I felt inside that man's head, wondering if she would be able to run away and leave everything for our love, that's why he challenges her, without any words, he just stands there waiting inside the van, a very suspenseful and at the same time romantic situation.
The ending has always seemed to me convenient for the beliefs that the main character had and the customs of the time, however, it would have been interesting if Francesca had the opportunity to meet again with Kincaid, so she could enjoy her last days of existence with the person with whom she knew what it was to be happy.
Una de las escenas que me ha cautivado es cuando Kincaid está bajo la lluvia mirando a Francesca que sale del almacén, es tan conmovedor y triste, en ese instante me sentí dentro de la cabeza de aquel hombre, preguntándome si ella sería capaz de huir y dejarlo todo por nuestro amor, por eso la reta, sin mediar palabras, solo se queda ahí esperando dentro de la camioneta, situación de gran suspenso y a mismo tiempo romántica.
El final siempre me ha parecido conveniente para las creencias que tenía el personajes protagónico y las costumbres de la época, sin embargo, habría sido interesante que Francesca tuvieran la oportunidad de reunirse nuevamente con Kincaid, de esta manera poder disfrutar sus últimos días de existencia con la persona con quien supo lo que era ser feliz.
