Linguine is a long, flat narrow strand of pasta. Similar to fettuccine, but more narrow, the word itself means “little tongues”. Where did such a wild name for a dish come from? Yes, the pasta shape originates from the Liguria region of Italy, but how exactly was it dubbed, “little tongues”? Something of a malapropism, the mistaken use of the wrong word, in place of something that sounds similar. A real riot, those chefs must have the most peculiar taste in humor…

“You hungry, son?”
“Yeah, what do we got, chef?”
“How about some little tongues and Dublin Bay Prawns?”
“Uh, no thanks. How about a burger instead…”

That’s adoption, for ya. Certainly not pejorative, yet almost all but expected as far as anything goes. Maybe the inevitability of digital tech sealed the newspapers’ fate. Dubious that digital publications are writing articles with this much flavor, though.

All the truth must come out about the junk media that feeds the population. No more speculation! News outlets feed our friends and families monkfish tail for shrimp and call it scampi. A bold-faced, bending, winding lie! Despite the lack of legislative authority, consider these blocks of written word as your very own written bill; FL(A)ER 2005. Cooking needs that special something, no? The Fish Labelling (Amendment) England Regulation 2005, would put an end ideally to the mislabelling deceit of seafood retailers. Then, who will save media from its fictious and flagrant substitution of the truth for flash-in-the-pan speculations? Clickbait still catches the eye, hook and line!
