Beef and Cashew Wok Fry

Beef and Cashew Wok Fry

As it was Monday, my favourite Vietnamese restaurant was closed.

The local pizza shop was too and I didn't feel like fish and chips again, so I went for a short walk up Bagster Road to Vietnam House.

Vietnam House

I had been there once before, when they first opened. Recently had been closed for Christmas and most of January, so I went to see if they were open.

Thankfully they were, in fact, open. The restaurant next door had gone out of business, unfortunately.

As I entered I was warmly greeted and asked how I could be helped.
"A table for one, please." was my reply.
I was escorted to a nearby table and presented with a menu.

The menu was rather extensive, however the layout made it easy to read and easier to choose.

I looked out of the window while weighing up the various choices. Should I play it safe and stick to what I know or should I go with something new and exciting?

It was a tough call between the 9 or 10 choices of smoothie. In the end, the Banana Smoothie won out, but flavours like Durian, Jack fruit amd even Mango seem like worthy contenders when I have a return visit.

As a starter, I ordered their Fried Dim Sim.
I was expecting multiple smaller Dim Sims, so I was pleasantly surprised to see this huge one delicately placed on the table on front of me.

The Dim Sim was made with cabbage and other vegetables wrapped in a pastry and deep fried and came with chilli sauce.

For the main course, you guessed it, I ordered the Wok Fried Beef and Cashews, and a side of steamed rice. I added soy sauce in a circular motion.

It was better than I expected and quite filling.

The Dessert

For dessert I chose the Vanilla Icecream with chocolate topping, sprinkled with crushed nuts.

It was the perfect dessert to pick for this particular meal, however as mentioned above there was a wide range of everything to choose from and thid included desserts.

I'll definitely be back there again at some point in the future. There's also plenty of seating available for business meetings and so forth.

If you're in the northern suburbs of Adelaide, this is one Vietnamese restuarant worth paying a visit to.
