Tandoor Restaurant is an underrated outlet in Mangalore serving the best of Indian cuisine. The word 'Tandoor' means a clay oven in Hindi. I got a chance to review them as they recently introduced new starters on their menu and sent over a package to try and taste. And oh boy! They looked appetizing and were definitely very delicious.

Here's all I tried from the updated starters-

First we tried the Chicken Tawa Fry -
Tawa Fry is a dish made by frying on a flat metal pan which is called a Tawa. This style of cooking first originated in North Indian states. It was initially devised to prepare fried fish and later was used for meat and veggies too.
This Tawa Fry from Tandoor is my favorite from the package. Soft chunks of boneless chicken marinated well to soak in the flavors of the spices added. This was just as delicious as it looks. It was priced at Rs.295 (3.98 USD)

Next up is the Afghani Kebab -
Afghani Tikka is known for the Afghani preparation with added herbs and spices. The Afghani cuisine is generally aromatic and makes use of natural flavors and avoids powdered spices.
Marinated with yoghurt, the Afghani Kebab is very soft, well cooked and rich in flavor. The texture of the meat is creamy. It was slightly dry n the insides but was pretty good otherwise. This is priced at Rs.250 (3.37 USD) for 4 pieces.

Here we have the Bhatti Murgh Pindwala -
Bhatti is an Indian clan of mainly Rajput, Gurjar and Jatt Communities. Murgh here means chicken. Pind refers to a village or hometown. This dish is basically a recipe from the Bhatti community's hometown.
Slightly spicy, well cooked and soft meat. The ideal starter to accompany booze. This is priced at Rs.250 (3.37 USD) for 4 pieces.

Chicken Tikka Biriyani -
Marinated with yoghurt and special spices, the chicken in this one was indeed well flavored and yum. The rice was ideally cooked and loosely separated like it should be. The tikka masala was just enough to keep it from being dry. This is priced at Rs.275 (3.71 USD )
