Lately, I've been drawn to Japanese foods, specifically ramen and sushi. Maybe because Japanese restaurants are rampant in the Philippines. Today's feature is the newest Japanese restaurant in Cebu- Re-Q.
This restaurant is located in Cebu I.T Park near Ayala Central Bloc. I was invited for a farewell/despedida party of my previous colleague. Traffic was so bad that we arrived at around 7:30 pm already. Good thing there were enough space in the restaurant. Upon arrival, we then headed to the 2nd floor. Im amazed that there are pure Japanese dining in this restaurant.
The aesthetic of this restaurant feels like you're in a huge sauna room since it is filled with bamboo. The first thing you will see upon entering the restaurant is a huge paper fan hanging in the wall that has the Chinese character, fu, which mean 'happiness'. Their tables are also made of bamboo with a mixed of plastic, resembling an ocean.
We ordered ramen, gyoza, ebi tempura, tonkatsu, and california maki, all for sharing. The staffs were very attentive of our needs despite us sitting in a secluded area.
There were pure Japanese diners right across our table. Probably around the age 40s. I was curious of their order so i observed them. They first drank their hot tea, followed by a bento meal and a sake.
To be known by Japanese tourist here in the Philippines, this restaurant truly have a reputation of serving authentic Japanese foods. I enjoyed their food so much that i visited this place for the second time in the same month. This time, more confident on what to order. For my second visit, we ordered their signature ramen, California roll, ebi tempura and calamansi juice for refreshment.
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
