Betel Leaf

In our Bangladesh traditionally, the use of betel as part of social norms, politeness and rituals has been going on for a long time. Especially at the end of the meal, without having a drink, the fullness does not come. There was a time when making betel and presenting it beautifully in an anandani was considered a folk art among the elite in the society.

betel nut is a very familiar name to Bengalis. However, not only in the Indian subcontinent, but also in various countries of East and South East Asia, betel nut is popular. Some people eat betel leaf regularly out of habit. Some people chew betel leaf occasionally as a hobby. However, after a wedding, a birthday party or a full meal, chewing a whole betel leaf gives a different sense of calmness. If there is no provision of drinking in these events, the arrangement should remain incomplete.

In Bangladesh, there are different types of betel, there are also different ways to make and eat betel!
