Of the Castilian plateau, I can only say that you have to be brave to travel through it in winter, when the icy embrace of frost falls upon the defenseless and defenceless soil of its endless moors, painting imaginary crystal stars in the dim moonlight.
Even though it is sunny, the mornings retain, for a good part of the day, the stormy breath of a wind, Boreas, which has already been proclaiming its song with unbridled harshness, from the distant and desolate moors of the North.
But it is also a moment in which perception lets itself be seduced and sees, in that sun that wants to but does not warm, the focus in which the old Romanesque temples are reflected, forming, in contrast with the clear skies, picturesque scenes, easy to keep sharp forever in the retina.
De la Meseta castellana, sólo puedo decir que hay que tener valor para recorrerla en invierno, cuando el gélido abrazo de la escarcha se abate sobre el inerme e indefenso suelo de sus infinitas parameras, pintando imaginarias estrellas de cristal a la mortecina luz de la luna.
Aún soleadas, las mañanas conservan, durante buena parte del día, el aliento tempestuoso de un viento, Bóreas, que ya viene pregonando con desenfrenada aspereza su canción, desde los lejanos y desolados páramos del Norte.
Pero es también un momento en el que la percepción se deja seducir y ve, en ese sol que quiere pero no calienta, el foco en el que se reflejan los viejos templos románicos, llegando a formar, en contraste con los cielos despejados, pintorescas escenas, fáciles de conservar nítidas eternamente en la retina.
