Before the Troy described by Homer in his genuine epic poem entitled The Iliad and as the obstinate Henry Schliemann demonstrated, there were other Troys before that, which, although they succumbed to time, were spared the wrath of Ulysses and Achilles. With architecture, here in Madrid and logically saving all the distances, elements of different periods and styles coexist, with greater or lesser harmony, the sight of which, on occasions, produces a pleasant and unexpected pleasure.
Romanesque and foreign architecture coexists with Baroque whims and futuristic towers, while a good part of the city approaches, with its spectacular modernism of the late 19th century and early 20th century, neoclassicism and the new canons of urbanity, in a complex marriage, which, although not always well-matched, nevertheless provides interest and admiration.
Antes de la Troya descrita por Homero en su genuino poema épico titulado La Ilíada y como demostró el obstinado Henry Schliemann, hubo otras Troyas anteriores, que, aunque sucumbieron al tiempo, se libraron de la ira de Ulises y de Aquiles. Con la arquitectura, aquí en Madrid y salvando lógicamente todas las distancias, conviven, con mayor o con menor armonía, elementos de diferentes épocas y estilos, cuya visión, en ocasiones, produce un grato e inesperado placer.
Arquitectura románica y foránea, convive con caprichos barrocos y torres futuristas, mientras que buena parte de la ciudad se arrima, con su espectacular modernismo de finales del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX, al neoclasicismo y a los nuevos cánones de urbanidad, en un complejo matrimonio, que, aunque no siempre bien avenido, no obstante, aporta interés y admiración.
