Hoy quiero hablarles de mi experiencia en torno a la conmemoración del Día Internacional de lucha contra el Cáncer de mama, una enfermedad silente que ataca a hombres y mujeres por igual, la cual, diagnosticada a tiempo, puede tratarse y así disminuir la tasa de mortalidad por su causa.

Les cuento, el Cáncer ha tocado a mi familia en más de una oportunidad, la mayoría de las veces se han atendido a tiempo y con la debida orientación médica no ha trascendido, pero no siempre ha sido así, familiares cercanos perdieron la batalla en una guerra que no discrimina a nadie, mi mamá Anita, la viejita que me crió se nos fue hace 6 años, consecuencia del cáncer más letal de todos, Cancer de Páncreas, fue tan inesperada su partida que aún no asimilo su ausencia.

Es por ello que me uní a una fundación, FUNAFAC, dedicada a ofrecer orientación y asesoría a pacientes y familiares que padecen por este flagelo, esta fundación centra el interés en canalizar a través de charlas, conversatorios y talleres, además de actividades recreativas, el apoyo emocional que se requiere para afrontar con actitud positiva y esperanzadora esta enfermedad.
That is why I joined a foundation, FUNAFAC, dedicated to offer guidance and counseling to patients and families suffering from this scourge, this foundation focuses on channeling through lectures, talks and workshops, as well as recreational activities, the emotional support required to face this disease with a positive and hopeful attitude.
Justo esta semana, en la unidad de quimioterapia en el hospital se realizó el conversatorio "Como yo asumo la realidad, así me afecta" la asistencia fue bastante nutrida, allí se explicó cómo diferenciar problemas, de situaciones o circunstancias adversas y de qué manera encontrar las soluciones, fue una sesión bastante ilustrativa para aprender a no ahogarnos en nuestras emociones y canalizar las energías más asertivamente.
Just this week, in the chemotherapy unit of the hospital, a conversation was held "As I assume reality, this is how it affects me ", the attendance was quite large, there it was explained how to differentiate problems, situations or adverse circumstances and how to find solutions, it was a very illustrative session to learn how to not drown in our emotions and to channel our energies more assertively.
También asistí a la Gran Caminata Rosa que desde hace 6 años se desarrolla en la ciudad, aunque confieso que en esta oportunidad no me sentí a gusto, es desagradable cuando un asunto de verdadera sensibilidad humana termina siendo usado para hacer proselitismo político, pero de ese asunto no hablaremos acá.
I also attended the Great Pink Walk that has been held in the city for 6 years, although I confess that on this occasion I did not feel at ease, it is unpleasant when a matter of true human sensitivity ends up being used for political proselytism, but we will not talk about that issue here.
Finalmente, conmemorar este mes la lucha mundial contra el cáncer de mama es una invitación a hacernos chequeo permanente, para acudir a consulta de control antes de siquiera palpar alguna anomalía, está en nuestras manos cuidar de nosotros mismos, así que ya saben "Tócate para que no te toque".
