Todo comienza como un día cualquiera que voy a la ciudad de Cumaná, sin imaginarme siquiera que me sumergiría en una aventura maravillosa. Pues aquí vamos, el lunes 21 de este mes de agosto, me encontraba haciendo unas diligencias en el centro de Cumaná, como estaba cerca del centro comercial Manzanares, y necesitaba hacer unas compras en el mercado municipal de Cumaná, llegue a la hora pico, casi a las 11 de la mañana, di un recorrido por casi todo el lugar, llevándome aproximadamente como una hora mis compras de aliños y algunos artículos para el hogar.
It all starts like any other day that I go to the city of Cumaná, without even imagining that I would be immersed in a wonderful adventure. Well here we go, on Monday August 21st, I was running some errands in the center of Cumaná, as I was near the Manzanares shopping center, and I needed to do some shopping in the municipal market of Cumaná, I arrived at rush hour, almost at 11 in the morning, I went around almost the whole place, taking me about an hour my purchases of dressings and some household items.
Indecisa por el peso que llevaba, si me iba a la parada de bus o simplemente tomaba un paseo por agua para cruzar del mercado hacia el terminal de pasajero de Cumaná; pues no lo pensé dos veces opte por el paseo en la Góndola al estilo cumanés; así es, esa fue la impresión que me lleve al ver el estilo criollo del señor Alberto, un hombre bastante sencillo con mucha humildad, manejar su bote con un estilo único, como lo hacen en Venecia los Gondoleros; es allí, que inmediatamente se me vienen todos los recuerdos asociados al momento, y la catalogo como la Góndola Cumanesa.
Undecided about the weight I was carrying, whether to go to the bus stop or just take a water ride to cross from the market to the passenger terminal in Cumaná; I didn't think twice and opted for the Cumaná style Gondola ride; That's right, that was the impression I got when I saw the Creole style of Mr. Alberto, a very simple man with a lot of humility, driving his boat with a unique style, as they do in Venice Gondoliers; it is there, that immediately come to me all the memories associated with the moment, and I catalog it as the Cumanese Gondola.
La Góndola Cumanesa, es un Barco manejado por una sola persona de pie, usando un remo que le permite llevar el barco a su destino. Me sorprendió mucho, el estilo único de manejarla, es un arte que se va aprendiendo con los años y con mucha práctica, no todos podemos manejarla. Muchos creerán, que es así de simple, con un palo o un remo artesanal empujar el bote; no señores y señoras, eso es un arte que se adquiere con la experiencia del día a día, hay que tener táctica, experiencia y saber dominar o manejar en el sentido de la corriente, el señor Alberto es todo un experto en eso.
The Gondola Cumanesa, is a boat driven by a single person standing up, using an oar that allows him to take the boat to its destination. I was very surprised by the unique style of handling it, it is an art that is learned over the years and with a lot of practice, not everyone can handle it. Many will believe that it is that simple, with a stick or a handmade oar to push the boat; no ladies and gentlemen, that is an art that is acquired with the experience of day to day, you have to have tactics, experience and know how to dominate or drive in the direction of the current, Mr. Alberto is an expert in that.
Aunque ven el rio tranquilo, por debajo de sus aguas, hay corrientes fuertes y turbulentas, un ejemplo de ello la manera como se lleva a la Góndola Cumanesa, si te descuida, te arrastrará pero bien lejos. Me sentía muy confiada, del señor Alberto, aunque le confieso que al principio me daba miedo, pero poco a poco me fui tranquilizando, me di cuenta, que él sabía lo que estaba haciendo, manejaba naturalmente con estilo de un gondolero, sé que si no tuviera sus técnicas maestras, iríamos a parar a la desembocadura del Rio Manzanares, solo imaginarme eso, me lleno de pavor. En esta ocasión, aproveche para tomar mis fotos del recorrido.

I felt very confident in Mr. Alberto, although I confess that at first I was afraid, but little by little I calmed down, I realized that he knew what he was doing, he handled naturally with the style of a gondolier, I know that if he did not have his master techniques, we would end up at the mouth of the Manzanares River, just imagine that, I was filled with dread. On this occasion, I took the opportunity to take my photos of the tour.
Casi cuando la experiencia estaba por acabar, me le acerque al señor y le pregunte amablemente como se llamaba y me respondió con mucha cordialidad, que se llamaba Alberto, le pedí permiso para tomarme unas fotografías con él, que las iba a subir a mi blog personal de #Hive, le comente que contaría mi experiencia en esta travesía y hablaría un poco de lo que hace, el simplemente dijo que sí.
Almost when the experience was about to end, I approached the man and asked him kindly what his name was and he answered me very cordially, that his name was Alberto, I asked him for permission to take some pictures with him, I was going to upload them to my personal blog #Hive, I told him that I would tell my experience in this journey and talk a little about what he does, he simply said yes.
Como me sentí en confianza, le pregunte por unos niños que estaban en la punta del bote, le pregunte que quiénes eran ellos, me dijo que son sus hijos y lo ayudan a tal faena; la hembra es la mayor, cobra el pasaje que es un costo de 5 bolívares, y el varoncitos se encarga de amarrar y desamarrar el bote cuando llega a cada extremo del río, también tuve el honor de conocer a su esposa Lucí, cuando llegábamos al extremo del Sector Las Palomas, ella da vueltas de vez en cuando, para ver que se le ofrece.

Esta Góndola Cumanesa, tiene varios años funcionando, es el sustento de la familia del señor Alberto y Lucí, tiene un horario de lunes a lunes, siempre y cuando el mercado municipal esté funcionando; ya que el mismo, no labora el primer lunes de cada mes. Tiene un horario desde las 6 de la mañana hasta las 3 de la tarde, los invito a todos los que hacemos vida en el estado Sucre, especialmente los municipios más cercanos, que vivan la experiencia de una travesía en la Góndola Cumanesa, pues en Cumaná, también tenemos un pedazo de Venecia, así contribuimos hacer Turismo en nuestro estado.
This Gondola Cumanesa, has several years working, is the livelihood of the family of Mr. Alberto and Lucí, has a schedule from Monday to Monday, as long as the municipal market is working, since it does not work the first Monday of each month. It has a schedule from 6 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon.
