Paseo Los Próceres - The Nation To Its Próceres
I am a young man born in Caracas, a city with more than 400 years of history but that has an unparalleled greatness, this capital is a city that has large squares, parks and places dedicated to recreation, but if I will have to choose a Favorite place I would not hesitate to choose the Monumental Paseo los Próceres, since this space has unique characteristics that make it stand out from any other place in this city.
To fully understand what the greatness of this space consists of, it is necessary that we go to the background, it was 1956 and Venezuela was governed by the military dictatorship of General Marcos Pérez Jiménez, who would be characterized by having an iron hand that controlled totalitarian form the political and economic power of the nation, but at the same time it would carry out an ambitious plan called "The New National Ideal" which had as its objective the transformation of the physical environment and the improvement of the moral and intellectual characteristics of Venezuelans. , always based on a 100% nationalist spirit, for this pharaonic constructions were carried out that sought the modernization of Venezuela and specifically the city of Caracas, these buildings would have the purpose of showing the world the development and economic power of the country, but at the same time he claimed legitimacy for the president and his government.
This is how the idea of building the urban circuit of nationality arose, which would start from the Plaza las 3 graces in the University City of Caracas, would continue along the Paseo de los Symbols, later connecting with the Paseo de los Precursors and arriving at its culminating point in the Paseo los Próceres which would lead to the Patio de Honor of the Military Academies, with this it was sought to integrate the entire civil complex with the military installations in an urban way, it is important to highlight that a good part of this route is located in the vicinity of Fort Tiuna, one of the largest military precincts in Venezuela and the main one in the capital.
The Paseo los Próceres has a unique architecture within the city of Caracas, the architect Luis Malaussena designed numerous gardens, fountains, squares, walkways and stairs in Baroque style, which at the same time contrast with the Deco style existing in the main monument. of all the work, the monoliths of the heroes.

It is important to note that the rest of the walk is impeccably adorned with typical characteristics of the Greek style, where the Poseidon fountain stands out, whose splendor makes it a reason for admiration and a favorite place to take photographs, we can also find vases made in concrete and marble, other small fountains accompanied by nymphs, large and small water mirrors, a series of statues and an obelisk, all of them related to the American independence struggle, we can also highlight reliefs of soldiers, multiple wall paths and gardens that make this place a A wonderful place to share with the family, rest and get away from the hectic hustle and bustle of a city as busy as Caracas.
A very distinctive element of this great work is the so-called "Monumental Avenue" which starts from the monoliths in a straight line until it ends in the courtyard of honor of the Military Academies, which has rows of lights on both sides acting as a imaginary wall, marking a boundary between the avenue, the sidewalk and the beginning of the roofed stands, which are the same along the entire route of this road axis, its main function is to host about 30 thousand people in large events political military and cultural. Every July 5 to celebrate the anniversary of the declaration of independence of Venezuela, a civic military parade is carried out on this great avenue with the participation of more than 15,000 people, using various types of military and civil vehicles.
This entire complex reaches its final point in the courtyard of the academies, a large esplanade that is used for military parades and everything related to the typical ceremonies of the military world, it is a very special place for all military personnel but that the public is open Since 1999, in a grandiose way, a symbol of the civic-military union, on both sides of the square are Las Academias, in the background a large colonnade that ends in a huge flagpole with the national flag and in front a statue of a soldier peering through binoculars across the monoliths and beyond.

Paseo Los Próceres - La Nación A Sus Próceres
Yo soy un joven nacido en Caracas, una ciudad con algo más de 400 años de historia pero que cuenta con una grandeza sin igual, esta capital es una urbe que cuenta con grandes plazas parques y lugares dedicados al esparcimiento, pero si me tocará elegir un lugar favorito no dudaría en escoger al Monumental Paseo los Próceres, ya que este espacio cuenta con unas características únicas que lo hacen resaltar sobre cualquier otro sitio de esta ciudad.
Para entender bien en qué consiste la grandeza de este espacio es necesario que nos vayamos a los antecedentes, corría el año 1956 y Venezuela era gobernada por la dictadura militar del General Marcos Pérez Jiménez, quién se caracterizaría por tener una mano de hierro que controlaba de forma totalitaria el poder político y económico de la nación, pero al mismo tiempo llevaría a cabo un ambicioso plan denominado “El Nuevo Ideal Nacional” el cual tenía como objetivo la transformación del medio físico y el mejoramiento de las características morales e intelectual de los venezolanos, siempre basados en un espíritu 100% nacionalista, para ello se llevaron a cabo construcciones faraónicas qué buscaban la modernización de Venezuela y específicamente de la ciudad de Caracas, estás edificaciones tendrían la finalidad de mostrarle al mundo el desarrollo y el poderío económico del país, pero al mismo tiempo pretendía legitimidad al presidente y su gobierno.
Es así cómo surge la idea de construir el circuito urbano de la nacionalidad, el cual partiría desde la plaza las 3 gracias en la Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas, seguiría por el Paseo de los Símbolos, empalmando posteriormente con el Paseo de los Precursores y llegando a su punto culminante en el Paseo los Próceres el cual desembocaría en el Patio de Honor de las Academias Militares, con esto se buscaba integrar de forma urbana todo el conjunto civil con las instalaciones militares, es importante resaltar que buena parte de este recorrido se encuentra en las adyacencias del Fuerte Tiuna, uno de los mayores recintos castrenses de Venezuela y el principal de la capital.
El Paseo los Próceres cuenta con una arquitectura única dentro de la ciudad de Caracas, el arquitecto Luis Malaussena diseño numerosos jardines, fuentes, plazas, caminerías y escaleras en estilo barroco, qué al mismo tiempo contrastan con el estilo Decó existente en el el monumento principal de toda la obra, los monolitos de los próceres.
El punto de mayor atención de todo el Paseo está conformado por cuatro paralelepípedos de 30 m de longitud, dos de ellos elaborados en mármol travertino que se encuentran ubicados de forma vertical, y sobre sus caras se tallaron imágenes conmemorativas de las 4 batallas que sellaron la independencia de los países bolivarianos, Carabobo Boyacá Ayacucho y Pichincha, en la cúspide de las paredes más pequeñas se lee el mensaje "La Nación A Sus Próceres" acompañado de los nombres de aquellos personajes que dieron su vida por la independencia de América. Las otras dos estructuras que se encuentran de forma horizontal fueron elaboradas en mármol negro y sobre ella posan las estatuas elaborados en bronce del libertador Simón Bolívar y otros 10 héroes de la independencia, con sus respectivos nombres en letras doradas.
Es importante resaltar que el resto del paseo se encuentra impecablemente adornado con características típicas del estilo griego, dónde se destaca la fuente de Poseidón, cuyo esplendor hace que sea motivo de admiración y lugar predilecto para tomarse fotografías, también podemos encontrar jarrones hechos en concreto y mármol, otras pequeñas fuentes acompañadas de ninfas, grandes y pequeños espejos de agua, una serie de estatuas y un obelisco todos ellos relacionados con la gesta independentista americana, también podemos resaltar relieves de soldados, múltiples caminerías murales y jardines qué hacen de este lugar un sitio maravilloso para, compartir en familia descansar y alejarse del agitado bullicio de una ciudad tan concurrida como Caracas.
Un elemento muy distintivo de esta gran obra es la denominada "Avenida Monumental" qué parte desde los monolitos en línea recta hasta finalizar en el patio de honor de las Academias Militares, la cual cuenta con hileras de luminarias a ambos lados haciendo las veces de una pared imaginaria, marcando un límite entre la avenida, la acera y el comienzo de las gradas techadas, las cuales se encuentran igual a lo largo de todo el recorrido de este eje vial, su función principal es albergar a unas 30 mil personas en grandes eventos políticos militares y culturales. Cada 5 de Julio con motivo de celebrarse el aniversario de la declaración de independencia de Venezuela, sobre esta gran avenida se ejecuta un desfile Cívico militar con la participación de más de 15000 personas, utilizando diversos tipos de vehículos militares y civiles.
Todo este complejo llega a su punto final en el patio de las academias una gran explanada qué sirve para paradas militares y todo lo relacionado con las ceremonias típicas del mundo castrense, es un lugar muy especial para todos los efectivos militares pero que se abra el público desde el año 1999 de manera grandiosa en un símbolo de la unión Cívico militar, a ambos lados de la plaza se encuentran Las Academias, al fondo una gran columnata que finaliza en una enorme asta con la bandera nacional y al frente una estatua de un soldado observando por unos binoculares a través de los monolitos y más allá.
Sin lugar a dudas que todo este paseo constituye un sitio muy importante para el nacionalismo venezolano, su estructura lo hace de una grandeza y belleza sin igual, hasta el punto de que el general francés Charles de Gaulle en su visita a Venezuela afirmaría que ni siquiera Francia con su historia y su grandeza tenía algo de tal magnitud que se asemejara al Monumental Paseo los Próceres, este es mi lugar favorito en la ciudad de Caracas y cada vez que puedo visitarlo disfruto al máximo el tiempo que estoy alli, es por ello que invito a todas las personas que me leen venezolanos y extranjeros, que vengan a recorrer este magnífico lugar, el cual de seguro dejara una huella imborrable en su mente y su corazón.
