Hace aproximadamente dos meses, cuando inició el mes rosa, el Club de Corredores Cansaos Runners, y el grupo Del Sur (Policlínica Del Sur y Clínica de la Mujer), en la ciudad de El Tigre, organizaron una serie de eventos en apoyo a la lucha contra el cáncer de mama, que llevó por nombre Carrera Rosa 10k. Tuve la oportunidad de entrar en una lista de despistaje mamario de la cual seleccionarían como prioridad los casos delicados, y dejarían de últimos algunos seleccionados para examen anual de rutina.
About two months ago, when pink month began, the Cansaos Runners Running Club and the Del Sur group (Policlínica Del Sur and Clínica de la Mujer), in the city of El Tigre, organized a series of events in support of the fight against breast cancer, which was called the Pink Race 10k. I had the opportunity to get on a breast screening list from which they would select as a priority the delicate cases, and leave some selected for routine annual exams as a last resort.
A estas alturas, dos meses casi, pensé que al no llamarme, no había quedado en ese grupo, y estaba haciendo numeritos para tratar de hacerme mi estudio completo de Mamografía y Ecosonograma mamario, porque ya se había cumplido un año de mi última revisión y este examen preventivo es justo y necesario hacerlo cada año para evitar males mayores.
At this point, almost two months, I thought that by not calling me, I had not been in that group, and I was doing numbers to try to do my complete Mammography and Breast Ecosonogram study, because it had already been a year since my last checkup and this preventive exam is fair and necessary to do it every year to avoid greater evils.
Para mi alegría, el jueves pasado me llamaron para notificarme que había sido seleccionada para un estudio completo en el que sólo cancelaría un 10% de su valor, ya que el resto lo financiaba la Carrera Rosa. Debía presentarme en la clínica el día siguiente en la mañana. La cita para mamografías estaba pautada desde las 8 hasta las 11 am, pero la cita para eco mamario, era a la 1 de la tarde, por lo que tuve que quedarme en la clínica durante la hora de almuerzo.
To my joy, last Thursday they called me to notify me that I had been selected for a complete study in which I would only pay 10% of its value, since the rest was financed by Carrera Rosa. I had to go to the clinic the next morning. The appointment for mammograms was scheduled from 8 to 11 am, but the appointment for the breast ultrasound was at 1 pm, so I had to stay at the clinic during the lunch hour.
La mayoría de las pacientes decidieron irse y regresar en la tarde, pero en mi caso, al vivir en la ciudad vecina, preferí quedarme para no tener que hacer ese viaje. Literalmente me quedé casi sola en la clínica, únicamente una señora me acompañó y se retiró al cafetín de la clínica. Me distraje leyendo información importante en los carteles que se encontraban en las paredes, información realmente relevante de casos y testimonios, así como recomendaciones y estilos de vida saludables que debemos llevar para evitar el cáncer de mama y de cualquier otro tipo; y también admirando las decoraciones navideñas, saben cuánto me relaja la navidad, más aún, esta hermosa decoración rosa de la clínica de la mujer.
Most of the patients decided to leave and come back in the afternoon, but in my case, living in the neighboring city, I preferred to stay so I wouldn't have to make that trip. I literally stayed almost alone in the clinic, only one lady accompanied me and retired to the clinic's cafeteria. I was distracted reading important information on the posters that were on the walls, really relevant information of cases and testimonies, as well as recommendations and healthy lifestyles that we should lead to avoid breast cancer and any other type; and also admiring the Christmas decorations, you know how much Christmas relaxes me, even more, this beautiful pink decoration of the women's clinic.
Llegada la hora de la cita y con la doctora presente en la clínica, me hicieron el segundo estudio, y di gracias a Dios que ambos resultados fueron satisfactorios, no hay ningún rastro de células cancerosas en mis mamas, y sólo me queda llevar una vida sana, continuar mi rutina de ejercicios, mejorar más cada día mi alimentación, y hacerme regularmente el autoexamen de mamas con mis manos hasta el próximo año cuando nuevamente asista a realizarme mi examen anual preventivo de rutina.
When the appointment time came and with the doctor present at the clinic, I had the second study, and I thank God that both results were satisfactory, there is no trace of cancerous cells in my breasts, and I just have to lead a healthy life, continue my exercise routine, improve my diet every day, and do a regular breast self-examination with my hands until next year when I will again attend my annual preventive routine examination.
