Freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without having a feeling of being imprisoned or enslaved.

I remember when I was quite young, when we would want to do something or go out, but we were restrained by our parents or guardians from doing it now as we get older, we have the freedom to make our own choices without having anyone to stop us or whip us for going wrong.

Back then we had limited freedom, which means there were things we could do on our own without our parent's supervision, and there were things whether under their supervision or not we were not allowed to do because they were responsible for us and would be the one responsible for any action we take. We wanted freedom so badly but we were blinded by wanting freedom that we didn't realize that every freedom comes with responsibility and at that young tender age, we weren't ready and prepared for the responsibility and consequences that come with freedom.

Now, we are much older, with full freedom, with little or no interference from parents or guardians and now, it means full responsibility for our actions and bearing the brunt and consequences of our wrong actions.

Freedom means, the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants and being able to take up the responsibilities that come with having freedom. Many people want freedom but they are not responsible enough, they aren't ready for the responsibilities that come with freedom.

Many of us who wanted freedom back then, after tasting it, now wish we didn't, because we became responsible not just for ourselves but also for our younger ones, we wake up every money with so many thoughts in our head but back then, when our parents or guardian had the upper hand, it was different, they made all the choices, including the difficult one's and especially the financial choices.

A story was told a few years back about a young girl who against her parent's wishes followed her friends out on Christmas Eve and came back home lifeless, her parents did everything they could to bring back their daughter but they couldn't. A call was put across to her uncle informing him of the passing away of his niece, he rushed back home and when he was told how she died, he was angry, and out of anger, he took his belt and flogged the lifeless body of his niece back to life. The girl learned her lesson and refused to ever go against her parent's wishes anymore and not be in a hurry to be free.

I know the story is weird and funny but it teaches us that most times being under our parents or guardians is a saving grace for us, to some extent it wards away and prevents us from doing so many things but when we are free or have the freedom, we would do everything and anything but we will be the one responsible for every action we take. Responsibility comes with freedom.

Licentiousness means, disregarding accepted rules and standards, morally unrestrained.

I know many of us need our freedom especially so we can experience the first meaning of licentiousness but unfortunately, having one freedom doesn't and never equate to being licentiousness.

When a person decides to disregard accepted rules or standards, it is a matter of choice and not because they have their freedom. I know many people with the mindset or idea of I have my freedom, so I can do whatever I wish or want, but that does not mean that one has to become licentious. So, freedom doesn't just mean being able to do whatever one wants to do, it just doesn't mean having power or the right to act or speak as you wish it also means being responsible. Being immoral or disregarding comes with Licentiousness and this makes freedom and Licentiousness two different things.

No parents will give their children freedom and see or watch them become licentious all in the name of having freedom. Although we all have freedom of choices.
