Rain, Greenhouse, Pepper Plant, 1st eCash Block Found, Digging 133lbs Late Potatoes - Wednesday

Woke up to the sound of rain outside our window and got up to see the doppler showing off the mass moving off to the east. We got a much needed .2" from it but little sun the rest of the day as the clouds remained.

After getting the boys to school I headed out to the greenhouse to pull all but 4 tomato plants and hauled them to the mulch pile.

I still have the pepper plants to deal with today but as I pulled weeds by one of the ones grown from seed it tipped over.

So I got a pot and stuffed it in. I put it on the deck for the day then brought it in last night and it is looking just fine this morning! I hope to keep it going into winter to see what happens.

I had the 82 pounds of potatoes still dirty. I really should have set them out over night so the rain could have done a bit of the work for me, but I didn't so had to wash them. I grabbed the old metal screen door and laid it on the deck, piled the spuds atop it, then washed them all down with the hose.

There wasn't the room for all 82 pounds to get washed on the screen so I used the baskets to finish them off and then dumped them on the screen with the rest.

I stopped at my computer and noticed a notification on Telegram. I FOUND MY FIRST eCASH BLOCK!!! Last week I saw someone somewhere say that mining XEC was far easier than keeping my lowly S9 getting 1k sats a day on BTC. Holy shit were they right. I'm glad I did the swap to Solopool's XEC solo mining pool. I found my first block but had to wait until about an hour ago for it to mature and my funds hit my wallet. If I had the S9 on Braiins for the 6 days I would have made about 7k sats or under $5, where this block reward netted me $65 for the same 6 days of hashing.

One of the few breaks in the clouds during the day.

After noon I felt like I could get to digging so away I went to the upper rows of the garden. I had to pull the fence since the deer ate the peas, then pull the plastic and fold it in the corner before I could get to digging.

22.5 pounds from the 12 or so spots.

They went to the deck, got washed, then spread out on cardboard on the deck.

Next was the cauliflower row closest to the greenhouse where the cauliflower were long gone and about 15 or so spots of potatoes were ready.

27 pounds from that row got washed and spread on the cardboard.

I really love celery for a lot of reasons. The one that concerned me yesterday was the fact that they grow upright since I needed to get the plastic pulled up around them. I grab the plastic and pull vertically until each plant pops through its hole and is free.

All the potato plants got piled to get hauled away today.

IMG_20241016_151326.jpg

The whole afternoon the clouds were looking rather menacing.

IMG_20241016_151335.jpg

The row gave me a really nice big tub full of 47 pounds of spuds.

IMG_20241016_153703.jpg

They all got washed in 4 batches in the baskets then spread on the cardboard.

A little before 4pm the rains finally hit.

IMG_20241016_155326.jpg

I checked the doppler and found it was just a tiny bit as the rest went around us.

There was a bit of sun after the storm rolled through and I got the last big row dug for 37 pounds which barely fit in the tub.

IMG_20241016_164105.jpg

All washed and spread on the cardboard. The deck has 215 pounds of spuds that will get boxed and brought in the house today. I have a couple more short rows to dig by the greenhouse but they likely won't give me the 100 pounds I need to surpass 1000 pounds of potatoes this year.

I'm rather beat up feeling after all the digging and winterizing. My stupid skin is flaring so it limits my soaking time.

IMG_20241016_195612.jpg

My block reward hit my wallet this morning!!!! Today I finish digging the last potatoes, one of my garlics arrive in the mail, spuds boxed and in house, celery has to be harvested and piled in the cooler since it will 25F tonight. Tank heaters for animal waters, potted plants to someplace warm, and I'm not sure exactly what all else but there is more I will be doing.
