Lumber Stacking, Digging Late Potatoes, Shed, Seeds, Garden, Covers, Kraken - Tuesday

Weather showed rain the next week so I had to get my ass going yesterday to make sure I had as much under cover as possible. After going to my chiro appointment which I was in SERIOUS need of, I started out with the lumber logs and soon had them all piled onto the pallets.

I backed my truck into the yard and loaded all the shorter lumber logs that I had stacked under the wood cover.

Then I moved them out to the rest and got them set on a pallet.

Uline is a shit company. They are insanely expensive for everything in their stupidly huge paper catalog. You know what would lower their prices? NOT printing millions of useless door stops. How bout lowering the prices and just having online catalogs like the rest of the world?

The lumber logs got moved so that I could stack all the fresh rounds in the back to cure for the winter.

I've had deer getting into the garden and am ready to eliminate them. I got to digging the potatoes and started with the little partial row.

To make room to move the plastic aside I folded the pine needle plastic over and tied the corners.

It wasn't much from the short row so I just went to the next and kept piling into the tub.

IMG_20241015_133830.jpg

I got through the whole end row and ended up with 29 pounds.

Then is was to the middle row of the garden where I yanked all the plants out and picked the few spuds that came out with them.

IMG_20241015_151207.jpg

As I pulled the plastic aside I found this really long centipede that scurried for cover.

IMG_20241015_151432.jpg

Half an hour later I had the row dug and the spuds all out.

IMG_20241015_154351.jpg

52.5 pounds from the row. They went to the deck but I didn't take the time to wash them off.

Because the garden shed needed to get plastic over the top to cover the gaping holes in the roof. Luckily the old greenhouse plastic was the perfect size doubled over.

I have to go put ties on the corners to hold the sheet down so it won't blow off over the winter.

All the sunflowers had been laying on the spool drying while the song birds blasted around them. I grabbed a tub and smacked the heads on the side to get bunches of seeds out. it ended up being 5 pounds of black seed.

Back in the garden I got the middle sheet of plastic all rolled up as well as most of the irrigation lines. I also got the plastic sheet over the needles to keep them fully dry.

The rest of the old greenhouse plastic was barely good enough and big enough to fit over the lumber logs. I have to figure out a weight to keep the plastic in place.

The Kraken played in Nashville and wow did they have a good game. Ended the 1st 3-2 in the lead then it got tied in the second at 3-3.

IMG_20241015_172517.jpg

Then the Kraken went off and got 4 goals in the 3rd period to win 7-3.

So sore all over my body between muscles, joints, and skin it makes soaking for a long time rather hard.

It rained all night and is moving off now. I have to get the boys to school, check farm for anything I missed covering, wash the potatoes and maybe dig more rows, the greenhouse needs to be emptied, celery will have to be harvested before the 25f temps in a couple nights, and I will be trying to get my body into some semblance of pain-free.
