How are you?

Its Saturday and I am here at home sitting and thinking about this past week. Some things were good and some were very dissapointing. But thats a whole other blog. This week I watched a serie, in that serie everything was still as in the "normal" world. This was just crazy, (we saw in the serie that people going out for dinner, bars that were full, crowded shopping streets) my husband and I looked at each other and at the same time said: 'hey this is a crazy sensation…. “Which made me realize I'm more or less used to the new situation already, where i like it or not. My brain has already adapted so much to the new rules that I no longer feel desparate or sad about it. The 1.5 m economy in Holland not only has major consequences for the entire live world and our economy, but also for our brains.

People are social group animals, well I know I am, and contact with other people, physical and emotional is important for good health. Physical contact is important to feel good, this is something that is not possible now and as it seems, this will not happen for the time being. By giving someone a hug you create happiness hormones, you emotionally confirm that you can be your fellow human being. You subconsciously support the development of the other's cognitive functions (brain functions). In this situation everything is different, physical contact is not possible. But on the other hand, we can still give and receive emotional attention, there are various options for this. Ask yourself the question:What can I currently do to meet my social and emotional needs? This can be a personal card… a good phone call, a personal letter… or blogging you ass off and getting all kinds of comments from people all over the world, and even people that became online friends.

Our brain needs time to get used to this new situation, to the new 1.5 m economy that is now being discussed. We are used to giving each other a hand or a hug, now we have to wave to each other, or do the elbow high. It is important that we continue to feed emotional and cognitive needs, now that the physical is no longer able, our brain needs these other 2 sources to remain stable. Loneliness is not a stable and healthy factor for our brains, so it is possible that many people do not feel well mentally in these circumstances. For the record i am doing well don’t you worry. And we have a family of 6 and we have two dogs too they get more cuddles than ever.

Depressions that can increase as a result, burnouts and other imbalances in our brains. Which leads to more illnesses. When we take physical distance from people, a problem can arise in the cognitive functions of the other. This is something we can all prevent by looking closely at the other, where is the need, in what way can I give attention? Step out of your comfort zone, to that neighbor or neighbor where you put a ticket on the bus, a small form of personal attention, which can make such a huge difference for the other person. This is an important process not only for now, but also for the future for our mental health in the Netherlands. There is one advantage of our brain, which is that our brain is neuroplastic. This means that our brains adapt to the new circumstances. This is not about overnight case but its do able. This will go with ups and downs. So being extra sweet to yourself during this time can help your brain get used to the situation and adapt more easily. And be nice to others, there is so much going on with our lives and all the other world problems, stay positive.

Thanks for stopping by, its appreciated and remember focus on being creative instead of being bee-zy.
