HIVE NAIJA WEEKLY PROMPT#17: CHILDHOOD CRAZE

Childhood was fun, more especially, when I remember the crazy things I did, back then. Thank God, they did not blast me, then.
I had always envisioned myself as an electrician, I saw my father do some emergency technical work whenever the light develops problem. Most times, if he is unable to do it, he calls the electrician.
Well, it happened that my siblings and I were all alone that very day. We were watching an interesting movie, and suddenly, the light was taken. We went outside and saw that our neighbors still had light. My siblings bemoaned their fate that our wire has developed fault again.
As an aspiring electrician, I rushed into my father's room, and picked up the tools that I have seen him work on the wire with.
I climbed on top of the table, my siblings warned me not to go there the wires. Their pleas all fell on deaf ears.
I used the tester on the fuse to check if there was light as I had seen my father do. I saw light beam in the tester, my excitement grew; the electrician has arrived.
I went ahead to loosen wires which had been joined together with a black tape. That was where my problem started. I tried to use the plier to cut off the burnt mouth; I was clueless, but I didn't stop. The wire sparked, fear came over me. My thoughts ran wild, my father will surely format my brain with serious canings if he sees that the wires have been disjointed. I summoned up courage, and wanted to glue it together again, and then that was it, it sparked again, I felt surge and fell off the table. My siblings screamed, and our neighbors rushed in. They disconnected the fuse from the wall.

When my parents came back, our neighbors told them. I was trying to recover from the electric shock, my father came in with smiles.
"You see what curiosity has caused you. " He said, his face turned sour and immediately, my terror stood before me. My father flogged nonsense out of my brain, and whenever I remembered the way I was flogged, tears won't stop flowing. I was not able to sit properly for a week.
After that day, my inspiration to be an electrician disappeared.
