For three years now, the month of April has been a painful memory for me, which only time will perhaps help me to cope with in a more transient or less painful way.
Three years ago my mother, my beautiful old lady, who is and always will be my pillar, guide and hero, left our side, my sisters and I, we lived the last 7 most difficult days that any human being can live next to a loved one, the last 7 days together with her daughters.
My old lady was a tireless fighter, who until her last breath gave proof of it and whose love was so great that I am sure that for some reason that I cannot explain, she did not want her three daughters who were by her side day and night, to be there at the moment of her last breath.
I remember as if it were yesterday that 30th of April 2019, that the streets of my beloved country Venezuela were ablaze with protests for the departure of one of the political leaders opposed to the current government, who represented a hope for my people.
However, neither my mind nor my sisters' were occupied with it, but the alert on television of an eminent "curfew" made my eldest sister and I move out of the clinic in search of supplies to stay with our mother for as long as necessary.
My sister @raizayanez stayed behind to look after my old lady while we went out, but the arrival of one of our cousins, made her leave the room longer than it usually took us to do so.
Just at that moment when the three of us were out of our mother's room, she left 😪.
Today, three years after her departure, I remember her with love, when the pain of her absence invades me, I reflect and think of her happy and peaceful with my father and my grandparents, aunts and uncles and other loved ones who are no longer with us.
Sadness and grief is part of mourning the loss of a loved one, and to direct those feelings in a positive direction in my life has been a struggle I have had to face alone and I must cope in a way I never thought I could.
I was certainly on the verge of seeing a specialist on many occasions but being out of my country and what is involved in moving on in a foreign country is not easy and fortunately I have been able to channel my grief in the most appropriate way possible and here I am, honouring my old lady and fighting to move forward.
To all those who are going through a loss, put all your efforts to move forward, if you can treat yourself with a specialist it is the most recommendable thing to make the path easier and as painless as possible.
My love for my mother will always be in my heart as well as my love for my family, which inspires me every day to keep on fighting.
