Hello! I hope you are all well, today I would like to share with you a small repair I did at home, you know, if we want to have it in optimal conditions we must do some maintenance, repair some holes or anything that we don't like or that we think we can improve in some way. This time it's about the porch, many years ago, when we started works with the aim of finishing the fence, which we still have not been able to finish it, mainly due to lack of money, the part of the entrance was bad, that is, it was like a kind of hole or depression that always made me uncomfortable when I looked at it, besides that area, not being covered with cement usually filled with weeds, so I decided to do something about it now that I could, thank God.
¡Hola! Espero que todos estén bien, hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes una pequeña reparación que hice en casa, ya saben, si queremos tenerla en óptimas condiciones debemos hacerle mantenimiento, reparar algunos agujeros o cualquier cosa que no nos guste o que creamos que podemos mejorar de algún modo. En esta ocasión se trata del porche, hace muchos años, cuando iniciamos obras con el objetivo de terminar la cerca, la cuál aún no hemos podido terminarla, sobre todo por falta de dinero, la parte de la entrada quedó mal, es decir, quedó como una especie de agujero o depresión que siempre me generó incomodidad al mirarlo, además de que esa zona, al no estar cubierta con cemento usualmente se llenaba de hierbas y monté, por lo tanto decidí hacer algo al respecto ahora que pude, gracias a Dios.
Of course I started by preparing the cement mixture, I made quite a lot because I also wanted to do other things that I will show you later, I promise.
Desde luego inicié por preparar la mezcla de cemento, hice bastante cantidad porque también quería hacer otras cosa que luego les mostraré, se los prometo.
Then I started to put some blocks at the entrance of the house in order to be able to retain the filler and cement when I apply it. As you can see, there in the background is my wife supervising the work, sometimes it's a bit stressful because she starts telling me what to do, but... I must admit she has given me very good ideas, so I won't complain so much, this is part of the process, isn't it?
Luego comencé a pegar algunos bloques en la entrada de la casa con el fin de poder retener el relleno y el cemento cuando lo aplique. Como pueden ver, allá en el fondo está mi esposa supervisando el trabajo, a veces resulta un poco estresante porque comienza a decirme que debo hacer, pero... debo admitir que me ha dado muy buenas ideas, así que no me quejaré tanto, esto es parte del proceso, ¿no?
Now we come to an interesting point, and that is that I used some of the rubble that was still in the house after the bathroom renovation (it's not easy to get rid of rubble) but with this work I was finally able to get rid of what was left of the rubble, so we can say that I killed two birds with one stone.
Ahora llegamos a un punto interesante, y es que para rellenar yo aproveché algunos de los escombros que aún quedaban en casa luego de la remodelación del baño (no es fácil deshacerse de los escombros) pero con este trabajo finalmente pude deshacerme de lo que quedaba de escombros, así que podemos decir que maté dos pájaros con un solo tiro.
I then started pouring cement and flattening the surface with a tool called a ‘brush’ which gives a smooth and neat finish, the good thing is that I didn't have to use too much cement thanks to the filler I used beforehand.
Después comencé a verter cemento y a aplanar la superficie con una herramienta llamada "cepillo" con esto se consigue un acabado prolijo y suave, lo bueno es que no tuve que usar demasiada cantidad de cemento gracias al relleno que usé previamente.
And this was the final result, as you can see, I also applied cement in the little grooves that were all over the floor, this way I will avoid weeds to come out, which usually gets out of control when it rains, coming out of every groove.
Y este fue el resultado final, como se pueden dar cuenta, también apliqué cemento en las pequeñas ranuras que habían por todo el piso, de esta manera evitaré que salga el monte, el cual suele descontrolarse cuando llueve, saliendo por cada ranura.
And here we can see the result of where the hole was before, now it is much better than before. Little by little we will be making repairs in our little house, God willing, and what we couldn't do at the time, we will surely be able to do in the future.
Y aquí podemos ver de cerca el resultado de donde estaba antes el hueco, ahora está mucho mejor que antes. Poco a poco iremos haciendo arreglos en nuestra casita, Dios mediante y lo que no pudimos hacer en su momento, seguramente podremos hacerlo en el futuro.
