El fin de semana fue especial para la familia. Uno de los tíos más populares estuvo de cumpleaños en un día muy especial. El 24 de junio, día de la batalla de Carabobo, pero también es conocido por ser el día del santo Juan Bautista, precisamente el primer y segundo nombre del tío. Claro, no es una casualidad porque ese fue el motivo de haberlo bautizado con ese nombre tan particular.

The weekend was a special one for the family. One of the most popular uncles had a birthday on a very special day. June 24, the day of the battle of Carabobo, but it is also known for being the day of Saint John the Baptist, precisely the first and middle name of the uncle. Of course, it is not a coincidence because that was the reason to baptize him with that particular name.

Lo cierto es que sin mucha planificación, mi tía María Belén quería ir a pasar el día en la casa del cumpleañero e invitó a mi mamá para que la acompañara. En principio sería mi mamá, mi tía y mi prima, sin embargo, al ver que pasarían cerca de la casa de Jeremías, decidí aprovechar la cola para llevarlo hasta el norte de la ciudad. Al final, como íbamos a estar cerca, decidí llevarme al hijo y también ir a pasar el día a que el tío Juan, sabiendo que es un sitio bastante agradable y que se puede apreciar la naturaleza bien de cerca.

The truth is that without much planning, my aunt María Belén wanted to spend the day at the birthday boy's house and invited my mom to go with her. At first it would be my mom, my aunt and my cousin, however, seeing that they would pass near Jeremías' house, I decided to take advantage of the queue to take him to the north of the city. In the end, as we were going to be close, I decided to take my son and also go to spend the day at Uncle Juan's house, knowing that it is a very nice place and that you can appreciate nature up close.

En el camino decidimos comprar algunas cosas para compartir, compramos un pollo, arroz, panes, entre otros. No queríamos llegar con las manos vacías. En lo que llegamos, realmente fue una sorpresa para todos y esta fue aún más sorprendente porque a los minutos llegó el tío Luis con su familia y así esto ya se podía catalogar como una reunión familiar a lo grande.

On the way we decided to buy some things to share, we bought a chicken, rice, breads, among others. We did not want to arrive empty handed. When we arrived, it was really a surprise for everyone and this was even more surprising because within minutes Uncle Luis arrived with his family and so this could already be catalogued as a big family reunion.

Sin mucho protocolo, comenzamos a armar la mesa para el gran almuerzo familiar. También se unieron al festín un par de vecinos que llegaron con una torta, más la que habíamos llevado nosotros. En fin, la mesa quedó repleta de comida, lo cual prometía un gran compartir que se dio de principio a fin.

Without much protocol, we began to set the table for the big family lunch. A couple of neighbors also joined the feast, who arrived with a cake, plus the one we had brought. In short, the table was full of food, which promised a great sharing that took place from beginning to end.

Después del almuerzo, nos dio tiempo de hacer una revisión al conuco del tío, en donde aprovecha el espacio para sembrar aguacates, limones, ciruelas y cualquier otro árbol que pueda ser beneficiado por el clima semiárido de la zona. El agua es bastante escamosa por estos lados, así que toca investigar muy bien cuáles son los rubros que pueden evolucionar mejor en la zona norte del estado Lara.

After lunch, we had time to take a look at the uncle's farm, where he takes advantage of the space to plant avocados, lemons, plums and any other tree that can benefit from the semi-arid climate of the area. The water is quite flaky in these parts, so it is time to investigate very well which are the crops that can evolve better in the northern part of Lara State.

El tío es un confieso adorador de las matas y árboles, es uno de sus pasatiempos preferidos. Por nada es hijo de un gran agricultor de toda la vida, el gran abuelo Jesús Pérez. Se puede notar el gran cuidado que le da a sus árboles. Hasta vimos con asombro un riego por goteo improvisado que logró colocar con algunas botellas de refresco, pero que le permite mantener la humedad y la buena salud de los árboles.

The uncle is a self-confessed lover of bushes and trees, it is one of his favorite hobbies. Not for nothing is he the son of a great farmer all his life, the great grandfather Jesús Pérez. You can see the great care he gives to his trees. We even saw with amazement an improvised drip irrigation system that he managed to install with some soda bottles, but that allows him to maintain the humidity and good health of the trees.

En horas de la tarde, sin querernos venir, aceleramos el canto del cumpleaños. Lo cual le da fin generalmente a este tipo de reuniones. A la tía María no le gusta manejar de noche, así que era necesario coger la carretera de regreso. Fue un día especial en familia, deseando que esto se pueda repetir con más frecuencia.

In the afternoon, without wanting to come, we accelerated the singing of the birthday. Which usually brings an end to this type of gathering. Aunt Maria does not like to drive at night, so it was necessary to take the road back. It was a special family day, wishing this could be repeated more often.
