The kindness you put into the world always has a way of coming back to you. Dhar Mann

Who is your neighbor? Did you love them the way you love yourself?
As the Bible says "Love your neighbor as you love yourself"

Hello fellow Hivers, Have a pleasant day everyone. I will be sharing with you a simple celebration that touches my heart.

Her Birthday cake

We were invited to a simple birthday celebration by our neighbor. I was touched because they invited only us and no one else. They prepared the foods that satisfy our palate. They knew that my husband is not fond of eating pork meat so they grilled two big fish and a native chicken which is more expensive than a commercial one.

The celebrant

I still remember the day we met. It was after typhoon Odette that their house was destroyed. No water and no electricity, yet after two days the Local government unit put up a big generator to generate electricity in the nearby water district and provide water for the people. It so happened that the water source was beside our house.

Our simple Birthday gift

The husband did help the electrician connect the electricity to start the system. Me, my husband, and my neighbor's husband help each other to make the task easy. We talked and exchanged smiles on that day. A casual friendship was started. Every day as everyone came to fetch water whenever they saw us they nodded and smiled.

Chicken soup

After everything came back to normal we invited them on our anniversary. The wife came together with the kids but the husband hesitated because he was a little bit shy. The relationship continues to grow. We sometimes bring food for them or they bring food for us. Small talks lead to a deeper relationship. Some problems were told and asked for advice.

Until one day their children were admitted to the hospital due to dengue fever. No family visited them for they are far away. The moment we knew that they were in the hospital we directly visited them, bringing something for the kids, some fruit, and a herbal drink. Tears flowed down from our eyes and told us that their family did not even dare to help them but we, not part of their family were the only ones who visited and helped them.

We were so touched and tears even fell from my eyes. It was tears of pain and sadness knowing that no family members dared to help. Maybe it was because they didn't have anything to help also.

A day came when they were discharged from the hospital and a stronger bond between us was created.
So whenever there were occasions between us and their family we were always invited. Big and small victories were celebrated together as a family.

Go back to the birthday celebration, we enjoyed the food, the chicken soup that was so tender and the grilled fish was so delicious partnered with vinegar sauce with onion and tomatoes. We had a happy tummy as we spent more time chatting. The night we have ended with a good sleep.

Truly the act of kindness finds a way of turning back to you. Be kind to one another, especially your neighbors they are the closest people who will help you in times of need.

Show kindness to everyone today, even in simple gestures, it means so much to the people in need.

That would be all for today, thank you for reading my story. Have a kind day and see you around.
