Podemos estar de acuerdo en que queremos sentarnos a ver una peli, o que queremos ir a comer afuera; el problema está cuando toca coincidir en ¿qué película ver? y más aún considerando la enorme oferta que existe ahora en los servicios de streaming, tenemos Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, AppleTV+, Movistar+, y un largo etcétera. Lo mismo pasa a la hora de comer: “quiero pizza”, “yo quiero hamburguesa”, “y yo quiero sushi”. O a la hora de jugar, a mí me pasa con mis hijos, me invitan a jugar videojuegos y Sophi quiere jugar Call of Duty, pero Samuel quiere jugar Brawl Stars.
Pues bien, aquí toma protagonismo una vez más la tecnología, ¡y qué mejor que hacerlo con fórmulas que ya han funcionado en otros escenarios o con otros fines! Aunque decidir qué película ver no se compara con decidir qué pareja elegir, el proceso de elección puede tener puntos en común. Por esta razón, los desarrolladores de Handshake aprovecharon el concepto de aplicaciones de citas como Tinder para decisiones más cotidianas. En lugar de buscar pareja, buscamos el mejor plan para todos.

We can agree that we want to sit down to watch a movie or go out to eat; the problem arises when it comes to deciding on which movie to watch, especially considering the huge array of streaming services available now – we have Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, AppleTV+, Movistar+, and many others. That's why the developers of Handshake took advantage of the concept of dating apps like Tinder for everyday decisions. Instead of looking for a partner, we look for the best plan for everyone.

¿Un Tinder para cinéfilos, turistas, foodies, gamers?
¡Pues casi, casi! Más o menos por ahí van los tiros. Handshake es una aplicación para ayudarnos a hacer “Match” en base a nuestros gustos y aficiones. Y lo hace de una manera divertida: ¡jugando!
Sí, así es, con Handshake creamos un juego en base a una categoría predefinida: películas/programas de TV, restaurantes, recetas, vinos, o personalizado. Posteriormente, invitamos a nuestros familiares y/o amigos a unirse al juego a través de un ID, y comienza la diversión en busca de un “Match”.
Bien, una vez unidos todos a la partida, cada jugador deslizará a la derecha o a la izquierda en señal de gusto o disgusto, algo como un Like y Dislike, como en Tinder, pero en lugar de ligar, lo que buscamos es encontrar la opción que todos amen. Finalmente, cuando coincidimos en algo, es un "Match" y la decisión queda tomada…en ese punto, el juego habrá finalizado.

A Tinder for movie lovers? A Tinder for foodies? A Tinder for gamers?
Well, almost, almost! That's more or less how it works. Handshake is an application to help us make "Match" based on our preferences and hobbies. And it does it in a fun way: by playing! Yes, that's right, with Handshake we create a game based on a predefined category: movies/TV shows, restaurants, recipes, wines, or personalized. Afterward, we invite our family and/or friends to join the game through an ID, and the fun begins in search of a "Match".
Well, once everyone is in the game, each player will swipe right or left to signal their like or dislike, just like on Tinder. But instead of trying to find a date, what we're looking for is the option that everyone loves. Finally, when we all agree on something, it's a "Match", and the decision is made... at that point, the game is over.
Lo genial de esta aplicación es que funciona con opciones reales. Con restaurantes, por ejemplo, la app nos muestra establecimientos de comida reales cerca de donde estamos, en nuestra misma zona.

Lo mismo ocurre con las películas o programas de TV, la aplicación mostrará las opciones que están disponibles en los diferentes servicios de streaming, y no se limita solo a eso, sino que adicionalmente podemos elegir géneros, fechas de lanzamiento, región, etc., incluso podemos leer una breve reseña de películas antes de descartarlas o elegirlas.

Ahora bien, caso contrario ocurre cuando el juego es “personalizado”. En ese caso, las opciones las agrega el organizador del juego, lo cual es una muy buena alternativa para elegir el menú del almuerzo, un videojuego, el destino de un viaje, y lo que está al alcance de nuestra imaginación.
