In my Opinion the Black winged Stilts have one of the most beautiful mating ceremonies in the Bird world. I know that there are some other birds like the Birds of Paradise that also have a very special dancing mating ceremony, but I haven't seen it in real live till now. On the other hand I already saw the mating dance of the black winged stilts here in Austria and I have to admit that I really fell in love how beautiful this ceremony is. I have been on a photography trip to LAke Neusiedler together with 2 friends of mine and we were able to get really close to these birds, when they suddenly started to do their mating dance and the mating just a few seconds afterwards.
I hope that I will be able to take some pictures like these once again next spring maybe. This last spring was not so good with the weather so it was difficult to get a lot of bird pictures, but hoepfully next year it will be better again.
