Split - HiveFest - Boat Trip ~~~ Rhapsody In Blue

DSC00101.jpg

This is crazy. Yesterday, I returned home to Kyiv. And today, my work week has already begun. I was gone for only 15 days (a whole 2 weeks!!!), and I feel like I've come back from Mars...

I downloaded more than 1300 pictures from my camera's memory card, and now I'm trying to figure out what to do with them. According to some sorting, the first photos are from our boat trip on Sunday, September 15, 2024. So let it be.

We were really looking forward to this trip, but no one has the power to change the weather or summon a storm, not even @Lordbutterfly. My daughter was very upset when we found out that the trip was rescheduled to Sunday, as we were supposed to fly to Warsaw that evening. But it turned out that the trip would finish a bit earlier than planned, and we would make it to the flight. So instead of one day, I got two truly enchanting days filled with picturesque clouds and waves in all shades of blue.

Enjoy!

The day was cool and very windy, and it even looked like it might rain in the morning. We arrived at the meeting point by taxi with our luggage so that we could head straight to the airport after returning.

At the scheduled time, we boarded the boat, which had all the hallmarks of a pirate schooner — cannons, barrels of gunpowder wine, ghosts in the hold, and pirates actually.

At first, everyone sat on the lower deck, but eventually we adapted to the wind and moved up to the upper deck, where some passengers were desperately trying to hold onto the sun loungers with their weight to keep them from being blown into the sea.

Wherever I was, I couldn't take my eyes off the sky. The clouds that day were simply incredible (have I mentioned this already?).

We sailed past small islands with olive groves, tiny bays and a single house, while some of the islands were completely uninhabited.

Finally, our boat docked at the island and we went ashore while the crew prepared dinner.

Nearby was a cozy beach, and the water was warmer than the air temperature!

A few daredevils decided that the weather would not prevent them from swimming, and very soon others began to follow their example.

Fortunately or unfortunately, I didn't have to decide whether to swim or not, because I can't swim. So all that was left for me was to enjoy the view, walk around, and take pictures.

It seemed that no matter how hard I tried, no photo could capture the shades of the water and the incredible clarity of the Adriatic Sea.

Lunch is ready! While we eat, the boat sets on its return course. Somewhere below us, the underwater museum passes by, but I didn’t see it...

However, my husband has a talent for noticing what I don’t. Thanks to him, I saw a dolphin!

The boat sailed close to the rocky shore, and you could see the black trunks of trees destroyed by a recent fire. I even spotted a micro-beach.

Meanwhile, the large group had split into smaller ones. Some were learning how to steer the helm, some were compensating for the cold weather with warm conversation, others were preparing to become pirates by climbing the yardarm. The rest were just watching.

I was sitting directly beneath them, so I hoped the two brave ones wouldn’t fall on my head. Luckily, everything ended well. Neither the pirates nor the schooner were harmed.

That's it.

After returning to the port, we headed straight to the nearest restaurant to eat before our flight. Yes, someone in our family is always hungry (hint: it’s the one who weighs the least, LOL). I regret not being able to say goodbye to everyone in person. Looking forward to making up for it next time!

See you,
@zirochka

P. S. I hope my photo journey didn’t give you a bout of seasickness.

P. P. S. Rumor has it that this was the best HiveFest of all time. I'm not an expert as I’ve only been to two, but I completely agree.
