Korsaro Boat: HiveFest pirate lunch | [Eng][Esp]

Oh yeah, we went on a pirate ship during the #HiveFest, although it was quite hard, in the end the weather improved a bit and we made it. Although this was not the kind of ship where you're deprived of food and kept prisoner, this was quite the opposite.

Among many interesting things we could do or not do, our hosts ensured a complete plan, which did not skip lunchtime and that is something I was very grateful for.

Although to get to this, we certainly woke up quite early, taking into consideration not to delay the time but at the same tired enough from all the previous activities we happily went through. Well, if I am writing this, I can't imagine the exhaustion and stress of the organizers, I think it must have been quite a long one for them.

We didn't know exactly what the wind or rain would bring, but at least it was certain that we would set sail from Split. And set sail we did. The tour gave us beautiful scenery and incredible views as we went along, maybe not in bright sunshine, but it felt more like a pirate atmosphere to me and I really liked it.

When we arrived at our destination, which I'm not exactly sure where it was, we got off the boat to a small beach with crystal clear waters, beautiful, but it was too cold to try.

We could also do some short trekking routes, so I did some walking around while chatting with all these interesting people we were with. We found some pomegranate plants and picked some, although they were not ripe enough.
The walks were on very simple paths, with demarcated terrain, and it was good for after lunch.

It was a short time after we arrived, we decided that the water was too cold to linger there and be called to eat inside the boat. By 12:15 we were on our way to eat on the pirate ship and I think we were all pretty hungry.

The menu was not too complicated, we had two options to choose from, as well as for vegan diners.

We could choose between fried fish and chicken, accompanied with grilled vegetables, cabbage salad and ajvar, the wonderful vegetable pate, based on red peppers, garlic and eggplant, with which they accompany everything around here.

For the vegan menu, you could decide between grilled vegetables with cabbage salad and ajvar, or a vegetable risotto that looked very good.

There was also bread, white wine, red wine and water freely available for everyone.

I decided to try the fried fish, I wasn't quick enough to ask what kind of fish it was, because I was too distracted and happily chatting. But I was quite satisfied with my choice, it was a bit cold, but we were a big group and the ship's kitchen was in the wind, so having everything ready to be served only when we sat down, made it hard to keep warm, but I hardly think that fried fish can taste bad (as long as you like it of course).

As for the other options, I appealed to @lizanomadsoul and @livinguktaiwan (I still find it amazing to tag these people, huge users on the platform, sharing a review on my blog, it's exciting!) to give me their opinion, both told me that they thought it was right, and I think also very basic.

Liz's risotto was impregnated with ajvar, I wasn't sure if she had actually liked this ingredient, but LUK and I were delighted, so much so that I decided to go to the kitchen to ask for some more, because we still had a lot of bread and salad.

When I went to get more ajvar I realized that this one was from a jar, although that didn't make it any less tasty, the truth is that I was even surprised to see the jar because I had almost taken it for granted that they had made it themselves, but it is something so used and so common that they have it accessible everywhere. I should have paid more attention to the brand, but everything I read over there seemed super hard to remember.

Anyway, the ajvar party started and I improvised some tapas with bread and cabbage salad that turned out to be really good, in my opinion hahaha. The truth is that if we didn't have to return on a boat, with the possibility of getting seasick, I would have prepared a few more tapas.

Our tour couldn't fulfill the full itinerary that the Korsaro usually covers, time and weather were against us, plus there were several fellow attendees who had to leave directly to the airport upon arrival. But we didn't miss out on their gastronomic experience and that's what we wanted to experience around here. Bon appetit!

¡Buen provecho!
