Greetings, dear friends of Hive Open Mic. This week we tune in to the theme "Homeland Pride", proposed by our recent Spotlight Artist @lasembradora. To participate I chose the song "En Este País" (In This Country) that I knew in the sweet voice of one of the most emblematic vocalists of Venezuela: María Teresa Chacín.

This video is another production of the Venezuelan Power Musical Group (Name devised by @fernanblog) who shares with you their taste for music in all its styles from Villa de Cura, Aragua state, Venezuela.

@carmenrivas Además de cantar con su voz afinada y potente, toca guitarra, cuatro, maracas, tambora. En diciembre acompaña los cantos en las Misas de Aguinaldo con una "pandereta vertical" fabricada por ella misma. Pertenece a Shalom, el coro de la iglesia Nuestra Señora de Las Mercedes. Es rezandera, muy solicitada a la hora en que se necesite rezar un rosario, compromiso al que acude acompañándose con su Cuatro o su Guitarra y también con Hermary con la que está asegurado el dúo tanto para la música religiosa como para las rancheras, parrandas o guaguancós. Especialista en dulcería criolla, hornea y decora unas tortas espectaculares. Sus panes caseros "no tienen padrote" y sus hallacas...¡Ni se diga! Pero allí donde la ven, alta y fornida tiene una debilidad: Su nietecita Kamila (Sí, Kamila con "K") para quien su "Pita" (Abuelita) es la encargada EXCLUSIVA en darle la comida (porque si no dice "No gusta" y no forma de hacer que se alimente (A menos que sea para tomar "bubis" ya que aún está en período de lactancia materna) Esperamos les haya gustado este acercamiento a nuestra querida

VENEZUELAN POWER MUSICAL GROUP. MEET OUR MEMBERS (2)

@carmenrivas Besides singing with that tuned and powerful voice, wshe plays guitar, venezuelan cuatro, maracas, drums. In December, she accompanies the songs at the Aguinaldo (Carols) Masses with a "vertical tambourine" made by herself. She belongs to Shalom, the choir of the Nuestra Señora de Las Mercedes church. She is a prayer, highly requested at the time when a rosary is needed to be prayed, a commitment to which she attends accompanied by her Cuatro or her Guitar and also with @hermaryrc with whom the duo is guaranteed both for religious music and for rancheras, parrandas or guaguancos. Specialist in Creole confectionery, bakes and decorates some spectacular cakes. Their homemade bread "doesn't have a pimp" and their “hallacas”...Not to mention!
