HIVE OPEN MIC Week 130 (Theme - Creativity & Freestyle): Creating a Song out of my Baby's Toys!

Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town South Africa!

This is Week 130 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge, and the theme for the week is "Creativity & Freestyle"! Usually I do the Hive Open Mic on my beautiful steel string acoustic guitar, but I got to thinking - how would you know if I was being creative and freestyling on the guitar, and not just playing something I know well?

So I decided not to play my guitar. What else could I make a song on? Luckily I have a baby daughter who loves noisy toys and so there are several of those lying around including a ukelele (a simple 4 string guitar), some shakers, a xylophone and some tin whistles! Plenty of instruments to make up a song about how my baby daughter will soon be a better musician than me!

On a serious note, she does seem to love music. When we are lucky enough to visit a friend with a piano she immediately worked out that different keys make different notes and she loved it! Her favourite toy at home is a harmonica, and she has worked out that breathing in makes different notes than breathing out and does both! Very clever! (Her mother loves it - hahaha!)

Lyrics

These are my baby daughter's toys
She is smarter than all the boys
'coz she plays them loud and she plays them bold
Even though she's only fourteen months old!

It won't be long before I see
That she'll be a better musician than me
So I'd better play the noisy toys too
And that's just what I'm going to do!

I'll see you next week! Probably back on guitar? Hahaha!

The End
