My entire secondary school life was filled with memorable experiences left, right and center. Some good, some bad, but I can say it shaped me into who I am today.

I was privileged to attend two secondary schools. Though I only spent a year in the first one, it wasn't short of memorable moments. The one that comes to mind first, happened on my first night. Usually, all JSS1 students were to be in the same hostel. We were all new, meeting new people, trying to make new friends. There was this tall guy who had repeated class. He seemed friendly, he was nice to everyone around him. His bunk was just opposite mine. We were both staying at the top bed. He seemed cool and everything.

I woke up In the midnight to strange sounds, like someone was struggling, I woke up and noticed the bunk beside me was shaking and the guy wasn't there. I was afraid. I decided to look down. And what I saw, till this date, still frightens me. He was taking advantage of his bunkmate.

I was scared but I managed to get the attention of the person at my other side. He rose alarm and the warden came out to punish the boy. All I could feel was pity for the boy who he had taken advantage of. I mean, I've heard of things like this happening in all boys schools but it wasn't an all boys school.

Well, I finished my JSS1 in that school and thankfully, I didn't experience anything like that again. I left the school after JSS1 because the environment wasn't conducive for me.

When I changed schools, it wasn't easy at first. Most people knew each other, so it was up to us new students to find our place. As I'm not a very social person, it took some time to fit in. But by JSS3 I felt I had finally fit in.

Academic wise, I wasn't an excellent student, I was an above average type of student. To be the best in a certain subject I had to give it my all. But when I didn't put effort, I wouldn't fail. I seldom got academic recognition. But I remember getting recognized as the best in Further Mathematics once.

They were a lot of memorable moments for me, it's hard to single one out. Theres the day I danced on stage, or the day I was called out on assembly for bullying (After serving punishment they later discovered I wasn't responsible for what happened), or even the day I collected a gold medal in table tennis. All in all my entire secondary school experience was a memorable one. From quality time spent with friends, to making major life decisions. I personally don't think I'll be able to experience anything like it ever again, so my secondary school memories are memories I'll always cherish.
