The world is fast growing and its rate of evolving so as to adapt to the current change of things is quite on a high level but with these series of technological and science development, it seems that the area i find myself currently is far from development even for years to come and its a high time i talk about it from the opportunity given to me through the #aprilinleo initiative under #leogrowth.
The Genesis of this is that am a serving corp member in Kogi state precisely the northern part of Nigeria as i was posted to carry out a service for humanity in my father land. Initially i was scared because i haven't been to the northern part of Nigeria before and the reason why am scared is because of the things i have long read and heard about those region but after my fight or relocating to my base where i will find much peace and comfort, it all failed to the ground and i have to reside in kogi for my one year service to my country.
Consequently, reaching here everything is almost new to me, their way of life, their responses to culture and development but i don't have anything to do than to lower the small standards i already have to live in a place i aren't comfortable with. Some of the discomforts which i face and have to live in here with are even hazardous to my health as in response to it, i have even fallen sick. Some of which are the points am going to outline below:
a] ROAD:
This is another aspect of the community that needs a serious development and renovation. History has it that the community has rivers and we live in a riverine area so when the raining season starts, the places becomes flooded and some of the community members would literally have to vacate from their houses with their valuables until the area becomes okay to be lived in. So as a case of development, the area has to have a good constructed drainage system which oversees the routes of the water such that lives are not been put in danger.
[b] WATER
My copping in here has been a fight with everything i have down to my toes. As a matter of fact, i have fallen sick of typhoid for about two times just because i haven't seen a clean water to take. This is a serious threat to living in here as the community needs a renovation and an adequate distribution of clean water in here. Despite the fact that the area is cool, there are many basic amenities that are lacking in here which pose a serious threat to survival and living in good health. The worse path is that despite the fact that the water isn't healthy enough, anytime the owners manage to pump the water from the borne-hole, there is a serious congestion owing to the crowd coming to fetch water in there. We the corpers serving in that area stands amaze because we aren't used to this kind of lifestyle and to help ourselves because we need water to survive, we queue the long line so as to have water to use and later on go back to hospital.
c] ELECTRICITY:
The world is developing very fast and various technological giants are been manufactured which requires electricity to be powered. In my community this is another aspect that needs to be developed on worked on. To an extent the hours of lights given here is manageable but the distribution of it is where problem lies, if it can be distributed properly then one thing after another is been achieved.
