My favorite position is the one that involves you beside me,
A place you have vowed to never be.
Still, I reach my hand across the bed and feel.
I hold my breath and stay still,
Hoping and wishing.
I dream of your return and get twice the hurt when I wake.
Reality stares me in the face but, I shift my glance away.
The little moments of happiness are all I desire.
I do not care if they only help to deepen my hurt.
I’ll take it everyday and I’ll do so without thinking.
