[ES] Hola #hivers hace unos días les comentaba que estaba por irme al desierto. Y por supuesto les debo una publicación para contarles la experiencia. Ya hace varios días que regresé pero desgraciadamente las responsabilidades asociadas a los viajes de campo no acaban con el viaje. Así que he estado atareado hasta ahora (y todavía no termino 🤓). Pero encontré un espacio para contarles algunas de nuestras experiencias 😉.
El lugar se llama "El Ámbar" y se especializa en comida regional, si son aventureros y les gusta probar cosas nuevas definitivamente tienen que visitarlo. El servicio es muy bueno y a comida espectacular. 👇 Acá les dejo una imagen del menú.
Aclaro que todo lo que vean que parecen insectos y larvas es porque son insectos y larvas. Los insectos son un componente fundamental en la cocina de esta región. Yo como soy más convencional con eso de lo que me llevo a la boca me pedí un filete de pollo con queso gratinado. Así que no es pudo decir si saben bien o no. Si les pica a curiosidad ahí se los dejo para que vayan y lo prueben uds.
El pueblo se llama Zapotitlán de las Salinas y, dato curioso, el nombre se debe a que hay salinas. Y me dirán ustedes, qué tiene de curioso, pues que el pueblo está en medio de continente. El mar más cercano está a 170 km aproximadamente.
Así que claro que quería ver las salinas, pero como ya se nos había hecho de noche lo dejamos para el regreso. Así que seguimos camino hasta nuestro destino hicimos campamento y a dormir 😴.

Además, hice una foto al campamento para compartirla con ustedes, esta fue nuestra casa por dos semanas.

El lugar que visitamos es impresionante por muchas cosas, algo que me llama mucho la atención es la abundante cantidad de fósiles marinos que hay en la zona.
Sin exagerar estos los encontré alrededor de la silla en que estaba sentado,sin necesidad de moverme ni un paso. Se llaman Turritellas y son conchas fósiles de moluscos marinos.
La flora del lugar es impresionante, ya de esto había escrito antes, pero esta vez tuve la oportunidad de presenciar cómo plantas muy pequeñas y sencillas tienen la capacidad de producir flores muy bellas con un mínimo de agua.
A estas bien pequeñas pero muy hermosas les llaman "Ojo de Gallo" y seguro a @alicia2022 le van a gustar mucho.
Resulta que cuando llueve en el desierto, todos parecen alegrarse... Todos excepto nosotros, sobre todo si el viento amenaza con llevarse el campamento. Y tienes que salir en plena lluvia a bajar el toldo antes de que se vaya hasta China.
Pero al día seguiente, la lluvia animó a salir a unos animales bien curiosos. Se llaman ácaros de terciopelo, según me dijeron, y aunque son parientes de las garrapatas estos son inofensivos, y de un color rojo intenso bien bonito. Cuando los tocas se encogen y se hacen los muertos, por eso algunos en la imagen están como bolita de estambre, pero todos están en perfecto estado.
Para otros animales es el momento óptimo para la reproducción, pues hay que aprovechar la época en que las plantas tienen brotes frescos.
Algunos tienen suerte y otros como este escarabajo estercolero no tanta.
Pero eso no lo desanima y sigue buscando. Esperamos que haya encontrado su media naranja.
Como parte de nuestro trabajo estuvimos muestreando aves y nos visitaron algunas muy interesantes.
Unas se portaron bien y les pudimos hacer fotos y otras no tanto.
Otra cosa hermosa del lugar y que les quería compartir son sus atardeceres, de los que tuvimos la oportunidad de disfrutar varios, entre las carreras a revisar si teníamos animales en las redes.
Bueno espero que hayan disfrutado este post como yo disfruté mi vista, Pasé unos días muy bien, pero era necesario regresar. Claro que teníamos una deuda que cumplir, visitar las salinas sin mar...y fuimos, pero bien temprano en la mañana.
No había buena luz, pero nos quedaban varias horas de viaje así que no pudimos esperar a que terminara de amanecer. Aún así, no quería dejarles de compartir esta maravilla.

[EN] Hi #hivers a few days ago I told you that I was about to go to the desert. And of course I owe you a post to tell you about the experience. It's been several days since I've been back but unfortunately the responsibilities associated with field trips don't end with the trip. So I've been busy so far (and I'm not done yet 🤓). But I found a space to tell you about some of our experiences 😉.
The night before @aliena and I got everything ready for the trip... or so we thought... or so we thought. But the next day, the rest of the travel companions had pending issues that had to be solved before and during the trip. So we were late to leave and we got caught in rush hour traffic 🤦♂, those who know #CDMX know that what I say is serious. So it got dark before we reached our destination.
But as they say "In bad weather, good luck" so we took the opportunity to eat at a restaurant that is on the way to the place we were going to visit.
The place is called "El Ámbar" and specializes in regional food, if you are adventurous and like to try new things you definitely have to visit it. The service is very good and the food is spectacular. Here is a picture of the menu.

The place we visited is impressive for many reasons, something that really catches my attention is the abundant amount of marine fossils in the area.
Without exaggeration, I found these around the chair I was sitting on, without moving a single step. They are called Turritellas and are fossil shells of marine mollusks.
The flora of the place is impressive, I have written about this before, but this time I had the opportunity to witness how very small and simple plants have the ability to produce very beautiful flowers with a minimum of water.
These small but very beautiful ones are called "Ojo de Gallo" and I'm sure @alicia2022 will like them very much.
It turns out that when it rains in the desert, everyone seems to rejoice.... Everyone except us, especially if the wind threatens to blow the camp away. And you have to go out in the pouring rain to get the awning down before it blows all the way to China.
But the next day, the rain encouraged some very curious animals to come out. They are called velvet mites, I was told, and although they are related to ticks, they are harmless, and of a beautiful deep red color. When you touch them they shrink and play dead, that's why some in the picture are like little balls of yarn, but all of them are in perfect condition.
For other animals, this is the optimal time for reproduction, since it is necessary to take advantage of the time when the plants have fresh shoots.
Some are lucky and others, like this dung beetle, not so much.
But that doesn't discourage him and he keeps looking. We hope he has found his better half.
As part of our work we were sampling birds and we were visited by some very interesting ones.
Some of them behaved well and we were able to take pictures of them and others not so much.
Another beautiful thing about the place that I wanted to share with you is its sunsets, which we had the opportunity to enjoy several of them, between the races to check if we had animals in the nets.
Well I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed my view, I spent a few days very well, but it was necessary to return. Of course we had a debt to fulfill, visit the salt flats without sea...and we went, but very early in the morning.
There was not good light, but we had several hours of travel left so we could not wait for the sunrise to end. Even so, I didn't want to stop sharing this marvel with you.
