En Cuba existen distintas pero pocas instituciones que se dedican a la divulgación del conocimiento de la geología del país, una de ellas es el Instituto de Geología y Paleontología, el cual, a través de revistas, libros y boletines informativos le agregan valor a los activos terrestres y marinos de la isla. Esta es nuestra introducción a Hive, pero no como usuario, sino como comunidad: la primera comunidad dedicada a la geociencias dentro de este genial ecosistema.
In Cuba there are different but few institutions dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge of the country's geology, one of them is the Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, which, through magazines, books and newsletters add value to the island's terrestrial and marine assets. This is our introduction to Hive, but not as a user, but as a community: the first community dedicated to geoscience within this great ecosystem.
El Instituto de Geología de Cuba (IGP) se encuentra ubicado en el municipio de San Miguel, La Habana, justo a unas cuadras distantes de la llamada “Virgen del Camino”, donde un grupo diversificado de geólogos, paleontólogos, cartógrafos, geógrafos, petógrafos y geofísicos trabajan con un objetivo en común: divulgar la actividad de las geociencias en el país.
The Institute of Geology and Palaeontology is located in the municipality of San Miguel, Havana, just a few blocks away from the so-called "Virgen del Camino" where a diversified group of geologists, paleontologists, cartographers, geographers, petographers and geophysicists work with a common goal: to disseminate geoscience activity in the country.
La tarea de expandir este tipo de conocimiento en esa institución ha sido todo un reto a lo largo del tiempo, principalmente debido al uso de redes sociales que muchas veces no son las más adecuadas para compartirlo, por la escasez de un público realmente interesado o por cuestiones de marketing. Con nuestra entrada a Hive, queremos extender por mucho el conocimiento dedicado a este campo geológico, ya que hemos encontrado en este ecosistema un lugar donde el contenido permanecerá para siempre de forma global para que todos los entusiastas de las geociencias puedan nutrirse de él.
The task of spreading this type of knowledge in this institution has been a challenge over time, mainly due to the use of social networks that are often not the most appropriate for sharing it, due to the scarcity of a truly interested audience or for marketing reasons. With our entry to Hive, we want to extend by far the knowledge dedicated to this geological field, as we have found in this ecosystem a place where the content will remain forever in a global way so that all geoscience enthusiasts can be nourished by it.
Te preguntarás si nuestro nombre de usuario representa a una entidad o servicio geológico del país en específico, y la respuesta es no, nuestro nombre de usuario en sí nace de la unión de las palabras Cuba (país en que residimos) y geo del término geociencias; pero para nada tenemos relación con ninguna empresa gubernamental aunque nuestra gama de colores sea casi la misma que la del anteriormente mencionado IGP. Esto nos permite tener una mejor flexibilidad para impulsar la actividad geológica del país sin rendirle cuenta a ninguna marca o corporación centralizada proveniente de la región.
You may wonder if our username represents a specific entity or geological service of the country, and the answer is no, our username itself is born from the union of the words Cuba (country where we live) and geo from the term geosciences; but we aren't related to any governmental company although our colour scheme is almost the same as the aforementioned IGP. This allows us to have a better flexibility to promote the geological activity of the country without being accountable to any centralised brand or corporation coming from the region.

Tras la labor educativa de @theinfiltred, @nony y @tonyes a principios de 2023, conjunto al trabajo colaborativo de Five Senses y el miembro de la comunidad Hive Cuba @crptogeek se hizo posible la inclusión de más del 60% de los trabajadores del IGP dentro del ecosistema. Se puede afirmar con datos, que de ellos, los que aún no poseen una cuenta, al menos conocen acerca de la plataforma y sus características, aunque aún se está llevando a cabo una labor educativa más grande dentro de la institución para engrandecer la adopción masiva.
After the educational work of @theinfiltred, @nony and @tonyes at the beginning of 2023, together with the collaborative work of Five Senses and the community member Hive Cuba @crptogeek, the inclusion of more than 60% of IGP workers within the ecosystem was made possible. It can be affirmed with data, that of them, those who do not yet have an account, at least know about the platform and its features, although a greater educational work is still being carried out within the institution to enhance mass adoption.
Con esto, reconocemos que el Instituto de Geología y Paleontología es el centro cubano, no sólo dedicado a las geociencias, sino en todos los sentidos, con la mayor cantidad de personas dentro de Hive. Este gran grupo de investigadores será el encargado de impulsar y promocionar las geociencias dentro de Hive, compartiendo sus conocimientos, hipótesis, tesis, aclaraciones, artículos y noticias en forma de posts que le darán mucha vida al ecosistema, agregándole valor al mismo a la vez que destacan la importancia de cuidar tanto el medio ambiente como los recursos naturales que la naturaleza nos brinda a todos los habitantes.
This great group of researchers will be in charge of boosting and promoting geosciences within Hive, sharing their knowledge, hypotheses, theses, clarifications, articles and news in the form of posts that will give life to the ecosystem, adding value to it while highlighting the importance of taking care of both the environment and the natural resources that nature provides to all inhabitants.
Debido a que el contenido de este tipo puede ser, sin exagerar, demasiado y abundante, se decidió crear una comunidad para reunir y agrupar toda la información relacionada en un solo lugar y no saturar las demás comunidades, ya que el contenido puede ser global y le servirá también a personas de cualquier país. Por esto, alentamos a leer el post inicial de la comunidad aquí e invitamos a todos los interesados, ya sean especialistas o no a publicar y a leeros también.
Because the content of this type can be, without exaggeration, too much and too abundant, it was decided to create a community to gather and group all related information in one place and not saturate the other communities, as the content can be global and will also serve people from any country. And what about the curation team?
