Clif High talks about Carbon-60 “Buckyballs” or fullerenes, which are any molecule composed entirely of carbon, in the form of a hollow sphere, ellipsoid, tube, and many other shapes. Spherical fullerenes are also called buckyballs, and they resemble the balls used in football (soccer). Cylindrical ones are called carbon nanotubes or buckytubes. Fullerenes are similar in structure to graphite, which is composed of stacked graphene sheets of linked hexagonal rings; but they may also contain pentagonal (or sometimes heptagonal) rings.
The use of C60 in industry is vast and well known. However, more recent investigations into C60 as applied to human health have shown some very interesting results. As a starting point, C60 has no known toxicity in humans and may in fact be of great benefit to health and wellness.
