Day 6 : Water Fast : Ketosis

Today was my final day having nothing but water. This has been a long tough road but I had my first meal today so I'm feeling great. I lost 11 lbs total and will continue to lose weight by staying in ketosis. Ketosis is where your main energy source is fat. During a water fast is the fastest way to achieve ketosis because your body will start running on stored fat. So the first few days of fasting, the weight lost is mostly water weight. Then once you enter ketosis you start losing stored fat.

This intermittent fasting was not easy! Having to cook for my son and not being able to eat my favorite foods. Pure torture. I found myself scrolling tasteyjapan's Instagram feed at night to satisfy my mind's desire for food. Imagine, looking at quick videos of people preparing ramen, omurice(Japanese omlete rice), soups, curry, katsu(Japanese fried chicken cutlets), oh man, I could go on! As you can see, food is still on my mind.

Getting into my keto diet, I still can't have these things but there are some tasty options. It's mostly healthy fats for this diet with low carb/no carbs, and a decent amount of protein. So I can have eggs, avocado, cheese, even bacon if I wanna dip into unhealthy fats. That's not recommended though.
