Prescribing Information
Description: Luvio ® Capsule is an antioxidant capsule containing Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Zinc, Lutein and Copper.
Composition: Each capsule contains Vitamin C (as Ascorbic Acid USP) 60 mg, Vitamin E (as Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate USP) 30 mg, Zinc (as Zine Oxide BP) 15 mg, Lutein USP 6 mg & Copper (as Cupric Oxide Ph. Gr.) 2 mg.
Pharmacology: Vitamin C & Vitamin E work as antioxidants and they have free radicals scavenging property. Lutein protects macula from oxidative stress and the damage caused by light. Zinc works as co-enzyme of a numerous enzymes. Copper involves in the growth, skeletal integrity and development of nervous system.
Indications: Luvio® capsule is indicated for Age Related Eye Diseases (ARED) e.g. Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) & cataract.
Dosage & Administration: 1-2 capsules/day or as recommended by the physician.
Side effects: Large dose of Vitamin C & Vitamin E cause diarrhea and other gastrointestinal disturbances. Fatigue and weakness have also been reported.
Contraindications: This product is contraindicated to the patients with known hypersensitivity to any ingredients of the drug.
Warning & Precautions: Vitamin C should be given with care to patients with hyperoxaluria.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation: It is recommended to consult the physician before using this drug during pregnancy and lactation.
Drug interaction: This product should be given carefully in patients taking oral anticoagulants or estrogen. It has found to antagonize the effects of Vitamin K leading to an increase in blood clotting time in these patients.
Storage: Store at temperature not exceding 30 °C in a dry place. • Protect from light & moisture.
