On some instances illness will occur and, try as we might, there is only so much we can do to deter it. Many of the older patients live in fear of illness. Since i have a strong family history if illness, there is part of me that fears it too. I, like many others, hate the thought of losing my kental capacity, giving up control, and becoming dependent on others.

For too long we may have associated our value with our iqs and ability to be independent. But that is not how God sees us. In order to be anywhere near well in the context of illness we must accept the loss of our intellectual function graciously, submitting to what God has ordained for us.

I have honestly seen some people with illness who could be considered well. Whether that resulted from choices they made or was simply God's grace, I am not sure. At the same time, I have seen many with illness who would not be considered anywhere near well.

This is the second thing we must do if we wish to stay well to the glory of God--improve our minds. We start with what may be the easiest: the strategies we can use to develop our minds while they still work reasonably well. The greater challenge will come as we consider strategies to promote wellness even when our minds fail.

That's ll for today. Thank you for reading. God bless!
